Why would he take it to Wilmington to build it? Mine was built in Wilmington and it works great, must be something in the water?

He told me he currently didnt have a builder working for him. Which I was fine with because my converter was shaking the whole truck on any tune above 100hp, and I wasnt able to get off work to take it somewhere. He said the shop was next to Diesel Addiction. Dmax711 where is your shop located?

Whats the name of it?

They are not an Allison performance transmission shop by any stretch of the imagination, you won't find anything about them online. They don't supply or stock parts because they don't know what works and what doesn't for what you are trying to do. They are a very reputable general transmission shop in town that does a lot of trans repair/rebuild on a daily driver cars, vans, gas trucks, etc. If you supply the parts they will assemble it for you with what you give them. I've gotten to go back through a few of the builds they've done for SSDP and apparently they will install whatever you give them - no matter what some clearances work out to. Hint: 0.230+" clearance on C1s is too much...

I have nothing against them and stay more busy and backed up than I care to be (bought a 12,000 sq ft shop with 2.6 acres to add more as needed to have the space to hire more people to fix that), so they aren't hurting me in any way. But there is a big difference between someone that lives, eats, breathes, drives, races, and pulls Allison/Duramax building your trans and a reputable general transmission shop throwing in a DIY kit as it comes out of the box.

Dustins is correct. The shop is not a performance oriented shop anymore, the owner made his name building drag racing transmissions for olds and Pontiacs in the late 90's. The fellow that worked for him that actually built them for me has left to drive a truck in ND so his talents are no longer in service there. If your looking for trans work in the wilmington area go see Dustin. I do not set up appointments to have trannies built anymore...
