Does anyone know what the process is to get a sponsorship going? I've contacted a few people but never got any bites. I know I just have your average daily driver, but on the other hand I finished second at fass nationals and made Diesel World magazine as a feature. I not looking for something huge but any help would be awesome to make the truck better!

best thing you can do is get in contact with companies you want to be sponsored by and present to them why you feel you should be sponsored and pretty much how they will also benefit from the sponsor ship

check this guy out, this is who im using to build my web site, and my sponsorship portfolio.

http://www.delphcommunications.com/index.html

but getting a sponcer for a diesel truck is not easy,i have gottin a few for our truck.
the portfolio will cost you around $400. also in the diesel world theres just not the exposure that most sponcers are looking for. try hitting people with trucking companys/local snacks/gas stations etc

dont try and hit a big company like P&G they will just lol at you.
also you the driver shouldnt be contacting the companys, find your self a good marketing person, they can sale the company on sponcership. well i hope this helps you

I did it the hard way. I proved to diesel shops that I could help them sell their parts, then I asked for help with our racing program.

Yes, a resume that includes public/media exposure is probably the best path. You are selling advertising, and an advertiser wants exposure.

It would have been good to go after companies before the magazine article. I have done this with ATV builds in the past. In that industry they jump at the chance to be in magazines.

Whats a sponser?:roflmao::roflmao: Its pretty hard, ive picked up a couple, but only from people i knew fairly well before hand (very minimal, maybe enough to pay for 2 trips worth of fuel to indiana). Sjd lets me use the shop and tools at night, thanks to Tim, hes the one that works there, they also cut me good deals on parts, but i have yet to have anything given to me to run. I think you have to be a good salesman really. Im just not good at talking.

Sponsership

My best advice is to hit up local big farmers towards the end of the year. You will find they rather give money to you as a farm write off than piss it away to the goverment.

Most of the money for my twins was offered to me by one of my good customers and he also went half on my airdogII 165 with me. The only bad part of it is I don't charge him for side jobs anymore so he may end up getting the better end of the deal as I charge 40-50 bucks an hour for side work. I also pay for my fuel with cash and give him the reciepts.

My main sponser is a good customer of mine and local farmer. He saw me pull at a local fair and asked "what will it take to get you to the next level"? I had the money set aside for twins already and told him I palnned on getting them and thats when he said send me a bill. He also likes the bills to go in his name so he can write the check himself so everything parts wise is in his name. Who would of ever thought twin turbos would go on a 2009 pete:D

my bank account has been my best sponsor. Master Card has helped out a few times as well.

best of luck getting one. im sure it wont be easy. but like every one said make it like a resume. and im sure if you have videos those couldnt hurt any if you sent them a DVD.

Very cool and good for you. My local diesel performance shop is my sponsor and a friend of mine. Without his help I wouldn't be able to afford my motor build that is going to begin in a few weeks. :thumb:
