Spearco said I was on my own on the cooler...Said they offer a year warranty and thats it....Sure was a bummer since it was a couple years old but only had a handful of passes on it....Just remember to not buy the cooler before you build the motor....So you have plenty of time to test it before the warranty runs out!!!!!!

Weld that thing it'll work a long time. Have a bead put in it with no contamination or porosity/bubbles crappy bead, a little V grind very tenderly done before welding so you get a deep Bead. Dremel fine stone for that. At least it's not plastic crap. Metal is at least fixable in this area from your discription. Don't buy a new one for Christ's sake just repair it and save $1500 bucks or whatever those run.

Read to many of these stories about failed Spearco's, no thanks... I have heard of some even blowing after they have had the tanks plated as well.

This reminds me, I need to pull my Behr out and finish welding the tanks on that b*tch to:mad:

Colt, Always best to use no abrasives when preparing aluminum weldments as the particulate will embed itself into the material. A clean file and a stainless steel wire brush will keep thing as clean as possible.

IMHO the welds are weak on this I.C. and it may burst somewhere else after being repaired. Thanks for sharing your findings as this will help those looking to purchase a part to purchase a quality part.

That sucks Mike, sorry to see that happen! Was nice to finally meet you in person and the truck is awesome to say the least!

Same to you Mark....Also thanks for the tuning help...Not going to buy another one...Going to get this one welded back up just worried that it will find another weak spot in it again but we shall see....Maybe by 2013 i will get this truck running good!!!!!!

Speaking of total removal of intercooler while repairing to get all weak places or open ones. You may be right it won't hold his boost output though on other welds when made. Always flush my stuff out after welding and fixing things. Might be best to find a new one.
