Maybe this topic has been posted before....just can't find it. Anyway, I just upgraded my wheels/tires to 19.5 commercial steel wheels & 245/70r19.5 Goodyear G622 tires....weighing in at 140 lbs each. I have a 2006 chevy 3500 dually. Anybody know the spare tire hoist limitations on weight? I'm thinking 140 lbs might be a bit much under there without upgrading the hoist? I'd hate to lose a brand new wheel/tire especially towing.

Appreciate the feedback in advance!

I don’t know the rating but it would probably hold it just fine, but for peace of mind run a strap around the tire.

Mine probably weight close to that and holds fine. I should probably run a strap though 😁

Depends on how rusty it is. They have fallen out with stock tires on them if they are bad enough. I doubt its going to break otherwise. Standard engineering is a 3 to 5 times safety factor. Maybe if you go baja across the desert or something.

I ran a 37” tire and dodge steel wheel under my 02 for many many years with no issues. That weighed around the weight you are talkin. Truck saw a lot of off and on road as well
