When laying sound deadening material are people covering the two rear rectangular vents that are behind the rear bench seat?

You shouldn't cover those, they are for pressure equalization. If you do. more than likely, closing your doors properly will be extremely hard.

It also provides somewhere for the air to go when you turn on the AC/heat.

The air in the cab has to go somewhere, thats what those vents are for. I wouldnt cover them.

We got several no's and one yes for covering the vents. The only road noise I get is from those two vents. Other than that, my interior is definately quieter after laying sound deadening material.

My GMC had them covered and the plastic housing was removed. Doors shut like a 08 ford :thumb:

Any issues with the air conditioning or heater working correctly, or pressure in the cab? What year was your GMC? Thanks for replying to this issue.

I just did this, I did not cover them. Turn your heat or A/C on, close all the doors, and walk to the back of the Cab. There is some serious air being pushed out of those vents
