When laying sound deadening material are people covering the two rear rectangular vents that are behind the rear bench seat?

You shouldn't cover those, they are for pressure equalization. If you do. more than likely, closing your doors properly will be extremely hard.

Anything thats shuts like a ford door cant be good. There doors are very cheap sounding. I wouldnt want it. Lol but i think hes referring to it still shut easy with it covered.
We got several no's and one yes for covering the vents. The only road noise I get is from those two vents. Other than that, my interior is definately quieter after laying sound deadening material.
Any issues with the air conditioning or heater working correctly, or pressure in the cab? What year was your GMC? Thanks for replying to this issue.
No issues at all that I could notice, it was a 04. It had the stuff everywhere.
I just did this, I did not cover them. Turn your heat or A/C on, close all the doors, and walk to the back of the Cab. There is some serious air being pushed out of those vents
I used Dynomate I got from Amazon that I put on the engine bay of my fire wall.
I just did the tunnel before I put the new turbo in. I'm really glad I did, it makes it more pleasant to drive now.
