All jokes aside, he just couldn't afford a full built unit and is just doing the best he can to get back on the road. I wish him the best and will try to continue to help him as much as possible. Thanks to Mike L for giving him advice over the phone, and anyone else who posted in this thread with good intentions. When he was calling around, Newly @ UDP also offered to help and he appreciates the gesture he put on the table.
Little update for my buddy Clint. The "local guy" seems to have nailed it. He ended up replacing a few parts. A bent c5 steel and friction and a bent return spring on the parking pawl. He also said he replaced a spacer that had cracked. These codes had come up after installing the trans last night. I think he was just low on fluid so we put more fluid in, cleared the codes, and went for a drive. 2-1 downshift was harsh at first but smoothed out as we drove more. He still needs more fluid I think he's 2 quarts low so we drove it back to his house. It did shift very nicely and 4WD worked great. Happy it all worked out for him and he's back on the road. Here's a pic of Clint's truck:
Mike can't thank you enough for all your help with Clint's stuff as well as my own issues. I appreciate you talking with that GM tech as well yesterday. When I meet you at a race or event hopefully I can buy you a steak and a beer.
