Can the stock LLY pump & regulator even make 26k?

Also,

This was an email exchange between Kennedy and I

Okay. So can the stock CP3 on the LLY only make up to 23kpsi? I know the LBZ's number is 26kpsi?

Is there any chance that your lift pump could produce too much pressure? I read a post by Kory Willis where he stated its important to check this.

to me
Lift supply only causes issues at above about 12 psi.

The LLY system is programed and designed to run at 23k max. It can go higher, but I would advise against it unless racing.

Yes, just have to command it in the tune. Stock tunes only command 23k.
Another question...

In this DuramaxTuner video on the P0087 code, they mention you can command max rail pressure at idle with a scan tool to bring it to 23kpsi this will help determine the life of the CP3.

I though the engine had to be under heavy load to actually make this test worth while?

It is a better test to datalog under load, but an idle test can show major problems that are present.

Okay, so underload, what should I be paying most attention to aside from desired/actual rail pressure

The LLY can make 26K no problem, I have had mine there for several years now. The rail test in efi will only go to 23k IIRC. You can do a quick fuel system health ck at idle by maxing out the rail, as others have mentioned. If it won't hold 23k at idle, it's never going to hold under load. Bottle test the rail relief first, then Injector return rate test, if they hold then the CP3 is weak... I'm guessing your fuel system is at 226K with the rest of the engine? Remember the fuel system is a wear item, there not going to last forever...

Oh really? So when I log in EFI lives scan tool, it wont display over 23kpsi for the actual rail?

Ive commanded max rail pressure before at idle with a scan tool, it held fine. Ive considered between sending my injectors off to be tested vs just buying a modified CP3 at some point, eventually upgrading CP3 anyway.

No, the log will show up to 29ish IIRC... The command tool will only go to 23. It's been awhile since I was going through all this on my truck.

Ohhhh I gotcha.

Yeah the scan tool I used to command it would only go up to 23kpsi as well.

Either way sounds like I'm going to need a new CP3 or have my injectors cleaned and tested.

I've been searching trying to find if its something cheap like a ported fuel fail fitting lol, but thats just me in denial.

I might be full of sh*t bud. I'm researching Mcrats rail sensor thread now;) I will get back to you...

At any rate if it's holding fine at idle I doubt it's injectors. I would still perform the return rate test on them.

Have you done the bottle test lately?

I can't find what I was looking for... Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I haven't bottle tested in a while. When I did last, no issue. Honestly I don't even know if it's a big deal that I don't make 26kpsi on the max effort tune
