Hey this is my first allison build and I need some advice. I'm building it at my best shop, my boss is going to help me with the build since he has done it before. But he wanted me to find out what all mods needed to be made to the valve body, or if it was just the mods that come on the transgo kit instructions. Also I am kinda not set on a kit yet and wondered what would be a good recommended kit I was leaning toward the PPE stage 5. But any advice on the valve body mods would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Mike L's springs, Suncoast Gmax 5 kit, and an ATSG book. What I have done through my three transmission builds. Can work well if your competent with automatic transmissions. However notice how I mentioned THREE builds... I chalk the first one up to self taught tuning with no defuel on shifts. But either way there are reasons why there are Allison experts out there like Mike who build these for a living.

I know their are those reason but those people also started somewhere as well but I do not plan on having to go back into the trans which is why I'm trying to find the best stuff I can and do it all at once I'm not making big power but I'm doing shafts and all just for future use. What about torque converters? The truck is a daily driver but I also run it at the drag strip often.

Next up...what converter are ya gonna get ;)
And not to open a can of worms (I just can't keep my mouth shut), but I personally wouldn't fuss with a snow MPG kit (as indicated in sig)-
Cheers

I sell a lot of kits to do it yourselfers. It's not the cheapest one out there but it I set clearances here and send plenty of selectable steels to avoid issues. It comes with everything you need including all the latest and greatest parts and my tech support that you can use at any time during the build.

100% go through Evan. I did mine myself as well only using a ppe kit. Ppe doesn't have good tech support. Everyone says to talk to Dan, well Dan is a busy man and is VERY hard to get on the phone. I called Evan out of the blue as a last try only cause I've never bought anything from him, he was at dinner with his family and still helped me out over the phone. Buy from Evan, build it and tell all your friends who and where you got your kit from and who gave you the tech support. Evan and suncoast ftw!!!!

You also need to pick up a Torrington bearing kit, I bought mine from dhd, and do some research on here for "zero knock down". There is a modification you can do to your converter flow valve to allow zero pressure to be dropped on clutches when the converter locks up. I'm sure these are all things Evan can help you with!!!

Can you pm me with a price on kit and springs? Haven't decided on the torque converter yet.

For sure just call Evan and get everything from him. Like he said he isn't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I just finished an LMM trans with a ton of help from him. He sends everything you need and his Limitless converter is awesome too:thumb:

Also another quick question if someone will. The boost valve mods for the trans is that separate from the shift kits? And what exactly does that one do?
