I received my SoCal Allison crossmember today (will help my ground clearance issues and make loading my lowered truck on a trailer a little easier). I was expecting nothing but quality workmanship but this thing is almost to nice to bolt underneath my truck!

The material, weld quality, powder coating/surface finish, and even the care/time taken to wrap and package it for shipping speak volumes for the quality work that Guy & Shawn put out.

Thanks
John Powell

Nothing but the Best.

I have bought a lot of parts off Socal and the machine work is of very good quality. As a machinist I am as good of judge of machine work as any. Superb parts!;)

Time to dust this one off....

I just got home from a diesel shootout race at one of my local tracks. Drove the truck an hour both ways (98 ambient air temp today). Ran 5 rounds, won 4wd Heads Up, loaded up, and came home. The truck has been doing this routine (along with daily driving, towing, etc) for over 5 years now. It doesn't matter if its 5 degrees or 95 degrees. Bought the SoCal Diesel shortblock through Rob at ATP when I got this crewcab (in late 2013) and haven't had to do anything other than general maintenance since installing it. LBZ block, LB7 crankshaft, Carillo rods, Mahle Cast Pistons, stock keyed cam, hand ported LBZ heads with SoCal stage II valvetrain. The quality of detail and craftsmanship SoCal puts into every product that goes out the door with their name on it is rare these days. I tip my hat to the SoCal team again.

I was going to head down yesterday but didnt get my piping done. Congrats on the win. Nice knowing it was a v8 that won again this year.

Nice set up what Garrett would be comparible with the s475? I've got a fleece 71.5 cheetah I'm going to run for a while and if I step up to compounds I'm thinking a gtx4508r or a 5541 over it and just enjoy the truck nothing crazy just over haul and drive it. :thumb:

A GT45/5541 would make big power. I had a LLY VGT upgraded with the Garrett 10 blade turbine and a billet 68mm compressor wheel. That turbo is coming out and I'm swapping back to a billet 65mm wheel for a bit better transient response for daily use and towing. I've run a lot of different turbo combinations and prefer the VGT - just my preference.

The truck count was down from previous years. There is usually a Farm Show nearby the day of the event that draws a big spectator count to the drag races. Typically there are 30-50 trucks just making time runs. This year the schedules didn't line up.

This gives me some hope I won't be cracking my block or destroying mains quickly!
