Is it normal for you guys down south to get a bit of snow in the winter?
Calgary has 3-4' snowdrifts and almost all the highways in central and southern alberta are closed!!

Well it's stopped here and finished up between 7-10 inches. We will get ice and then snow and then melt then it gets real bad! Along I-30 there is a 12 big rig pile up and traffic is backed up from all connecting 430 also for about 20 miles cause access roads end along I-30 where the accicident happened.

Sarcasim?

No we don't get snow here ever. We usually only get snow once every few years but it seems the past 3 years in a row we have had snow once. This year we have had snow 2 times but it didn't stick. Last year we got about 3" and the year before about 2" The only big snow we have ever had was in 92-94 i don't remember which year it was but anyhow we got 10 inches that year.

Difference is you are used to it!! We don't have salt trucks and sand spreaders, cause it doesn't ever snow here:thumb:. 6 inches shuts us down.

Well we ended up with 6-8 inches where we are, and the only way to get around was by UTV's and ATV's. Roads are starting to clear up some, but more thank likely will freeze over again tonight. Schools/Universities have been closed for 2 days now and will be closed again tomorrow:woott: Definitely been a good two days so far and we didn't loose power.

Ya would think so

But if you could see what happens here when it snows peoples driving skills you'd be amazed. You should see the lines at the gas station the day before. People fill up like there is going to be a evacuation . I don't get it at all like it's like they are going to start to ration fuel like in the 70's so there is enough for the plow trucks only or something.

Then the stores, everyone starts to stock up on Milk and Bread like your going to be trapped FOR DAYS! You cant believe it honestly to go into a store and NOT see a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk on the shelf I shit you not. That's when they only perdict 6" or less TOO

Dumbest thing I've ever seen. Well this last storm (last night) we got 24"+ that's what I just got done plowing about a hour ago at my shop and it's still snowing.

This sucks!

Really? So it's not just the nut cases here in New England. Anyway we received a record breaking snow storm yesterday I guess the same one that plagued you individuals in the south except it blew up over the water here.

Tough day I knew it was a big one when I woke up at 4:30 am and seen the snow half way up the wheel of my wifes car in the driveway. I'm aging myself but I recall the blizzard of 78 when they shut the state down for a WEEK you COULD NOT drive on the roads period or you were fined! That storm is now rated 8th I believe.

I recall the Blizzard (?) of 84 also and the storm in 2006 which was top dog till yesterday. The storm in 84 they only allowed 4x4's to roam and asked individuals with 4x4's to drive hospital workers to work. In 2006 I'm drawing a blank for some reason.

We've come along way in snow removal that's for sure. Yesterday the state asked private company's to close and all non-essential State Employees to stay home. Not for nothing on a side note that if this state has non-essential workers why not just get rid of them and solve the budget crisis? :)confused:)

Nonetheless I plowed out home and here and worked yesterday ta-boot. Pretty much back to norm except all the side streets are pretty narrow. Seems today storms of this magnitude are handled pretty well in this day and age. USE to it I guess but still hate it,I'm ready for a warmer climate,I'm tired of it.

How people in Colorado and upstate NY with the lake effect snow deal with it is beyond me. I'd be ready to jump off a bridge.
