as of late my truck has started smoking like crazy. it was not a real smoker when i first did the tune, then over the last month or so it has gotten bad. i let it go at first because it was around 100* and 9000% humidity and i thought that was the issue, but now it is in the 70-80's and mild out. anything over 1/4 throttle is just about fogging the road out. i did a full throttle run yesterday to see if the boost cleared it up and no. in fact it was so bad i could not see my buddy behind me. (in the dealers spare lot not a public road) the one thing i have noticed alot is the filter minder is always sucked down. i dont pay much attention to it because i have never seen one actually work. i have the lbz mouth piece and lbz intake. i am making good boost still though, although i havent logged to see what the vain tables are reading to make the boost.

would a plugged air filter cause this much havec? only 2900 ms full throttle, and mileage tune is not more than stock fueling either. exact same tune in buddies truck has him complaining he doesnt get much smoke now.

i ordered the s&b kit for the truck as i have been delaying getting it because i thought the lbz system was so much better than the older intakes. maybe not.

thoughts?

I put a new ac filter in my truck a couple months ago becuase the filter indicator was going to 80%. Now it is starting to move again on my 500rw tune. So I don't think the air filter would cause a difference.

Do you have any maf limiting? I was suprised to see how much limiting I needed to make no smoke at all my stock turbo LLY will almost support about 3000us at around 3000rpms but once it gets about 3000rpms pulsewidth has to drop off to about 2600us at 3200-3300rpm becuase air mass drops so much. This is with the stock maf and map maxed out and the vane position hitting the stock limits.

Sounds like a MAF problem to me. Either in tuning or a problem with the sensor.

Watch the MAF V in the data loger, see if its actng normal, whats the Voltage show at idle? try putting in stock maf tables also and see what happens!

ALWAYS, ALWAYS go back to a stock tune before you start trying to diag everything....

If the filter minder is sucked in, there is a good chance there is a restriction...

had a spare filter at my dads, went and changed it before is did a full reflash. (i hate doing them, i think the worst every time i do one) the filter seems to have cleaned it up alot. i wonder if there wasnt something wrong with that filter, it was only a few months old. the new s&b should help out even more. thanks guys.

Looks like you have a LLY from your description (LBZ turbo inlet), so I wouldn't worry about full reflashes. It's near impossible to brick the LLY and newer ECMs as the "Full reflash" isn't 100% full. It doesn't erase the bootloader, so even if you lost power just after it erased the ECM, you would almost certainly be able to revive it. On the LB7's, when you do a full reflash, it erases EVERYTHING, including the bootloader, so if you loose power before EFILive can put it back, then you have a doorstop unless you decide to open it up and send it to someone that can flash the EEPROM directly.
