I disagree, I would mod the air box, (free) get a efi, and pull the muffler off the stock exhaust (cheap).

eh. yea i guess you could go that route as well. haha the exhaust mod reminds me of high school but it does work.
either way. still the same principles. let the thing breath. then tune.

but with the removal of the muffler, you still have the cats. cats are lame.

the OP says that he has an LB7 and has done NOTHING to it. even before you get any tunes into the truck, i would get an cold air intake (or at least do a air box mod) and an exhaust.

1.Gauges (EGT and Boost)
2.intake
3.exhaust
4.tuner
5.trans (esp if you get EFI LIVE)
in that order.

i know some may opt to get the trans before the tuner if they forsee EFI LIVE in their future. i didnt though. lasted... ummm. a little while

Fixed it for ya :thumb:. Unless your gettting a plug in module like an edge with the attitude monitor or something similar, gauges should be the first step. This way everything after that, you can track results. Boost gauge is pretty much a reference gauge, but you EGT gauge is very important in a diesel truck. There are a lot of threads on here about installs and what gauges are best adn so forth.

I am selling my ppe tuner if you are unterested. hot E.T, +2 race tuner is the biggest one they make but has all the low settings for you to use with your stock trans. Send me a pm if you are interested.
