Im at my local smog place and he is telling me that my smog equipment ist checking in. I put the tune back to stock and put 30 miles on the truck but nothing has changed. Only thing checking in is CCM. No egr or mis of fue. He is telling me it wont pass because of that and they (ca smog board) will have to referee the truck. Only thing thats done is exaust and intake tune was put back to stock tunner is ppe. Any suggestions???

I had an issue getting my truck to run through its checks too. My smog guy said this works almost every time...

Day 1,

From a cold start,

1...Warm up for 10-15 min.
2...Drive to freeway
3...Accelerate hard to 60-65
4...Hold speed for at least 5 min
5...Coast down to 5-10 mph with no brakes being applied

Repeat step 3,4, and 5 two or three more times

Park it and let it cool overnight

Day 2

Repeat all steps from day 1, should be good to go.

Ive done this with several vehicles and has worked every time.

Couple questions, what year is your truck? Where are you located?

To pass the Ca emission test your monitors need to be on (supported) and ready, all of them. Misfire, egr and components. The only exception is if you have a federal truck which exist as an LB7 only, 01-04.

Sometimes when you return a truck back to stock the monitors will not be supported and it will never become ‘ready’ regardless of the miles you put on it. I’ve seen this multiple times and this can be corrected with the right factory tune. There is no need to get the referee involved, just the right person looking at your truck and tune to figure out what you need. I go thru this weekly at my shop and have always been able to get any Duramax to pass smog. Even ones that have been to the ref in the past.....

Its an 04-LLY. So this same smog place did it last year so not sure why its any different. Only the exhaust has changed. That was an “extra fee” of course. Here is a pick of the I/M readyness. You will see my one monitor was good but it didnt have any others, but it said it was good to go. Told his the truck came from out of state and I got it from an auction. He replied with “oh yeah, then its a federal emissions truck!” And it was settled.
