As I mentioned in a previous post, the Merchant kit comes with loctite 271 which seemingly no one is a fan of. I wondered if there were any yays or nays on the green sleeve retainer #640. I can't seem to locate any 272 and it seems many are a fan of the sleeve retainer formula. All advice is welcome. I don't wanna do this again.

Loctite 620 slip fit is all I've ever used. That's what's holding the cups in my motor. I didn't know about screw in injector cups at that time so that's what it has. No problems yet. I've used it in lots of stock lb7s.

I use the 640 green sleeve retainer. Been in mine for 5 years now, and no problems. I've had the injectors out a few times, and they didn't budge. I even used the stuff on a flywheel for a weed eater that had sheared it's keyway off(aluminum keyway that is part of the flywheel which means you have to buy a $100 flywheel for a keyway), and it held TIGHT! It took a torch to get the sucker back off later on as it would not budge for nothing.

Yeah I knew you had used it by some of your other posts I'd seen. I was going to PM you but since you're here, which brand did you use? Loctite or Permatex? Seems Loctite stuff is harder to find local then a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Napa doesn't carry the 640 anymore. I cant find any 272.. but I did find the permatex 27200. So that's what I'll use. Any objections? It seems permatex has purchased loctite? Also, I had one cup stick to an injector. I recovered it. It seems people say to replace that cup. If I get it clean, Is there any reason not to re-use it? I'm resealing all 8.

Permatex really bought loctite?!

IDK.. Just what I read in the forums when searching for viable substitutions.. Their part numbers now correlate pretty well now i'd say.. 272.. 27200.. Permatex's old number for this same threadlocker was 765-2680 I believe. Word of mouth I guess.

What if i had to gouge it externally but only in the center where the coolant is? It spun in the vice a little bit while trying to release the injector. It's not a deep gouge or anything. I just assume by the placement, no harm no foul.
