Hey guys, I have a 03 D-Max and I'm looking to pull the trigger on getting a single stack. I'm not sure where to buy from, or what to buy. I'd do it myself but I don't have the tools anymore so I'd have to take it to a shop to get it done. I've been seeing a lot of different kits but I'm just not sure what I all need so if you guys could help me figure what all I need I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys

So, you either need a sawzall and a Dremel or small grinder to clean up the cut or you'll need a hole saw bit for a drill, a drill and a couple of wrenches (9/16" ?) to cinch the clamps down.

I've seen variations of how to "get er done" one way is to cut the factory exhaust, one way you remove it and they give you a new piece to attach to the downpipe, I think flex pipe is what's used in both cases to attach to the stack.

There's only one clamp to remove the exhaust from the downpipe and I can't remember how many in the exhaust system, i cut my exhaust out but I think it can be taken out in one piece if you lift the rear end and let the rear axel droop out.

There are several vendors to buy from, some kits are "better" than others but they all do the same basic job and they should all come with the needed parts to connect and mount the stack, typically a flex pipe makes the transition

it's not rocket science and the job could probably be done in an hour or so with the most basic of tools and no previous experience.

I've had good luck with my soflo stack. I bought their mounting kit but didn't like the 90* bend they sent. It was a bit long and hung down to low for my taste so I picked up a shorter one at the local truck supply place.

I appreciate the input man! I'm just really looking for the best brand/what all I need in a kit for the stack so I don't have to go and buy different parts from different vendors. Not necessarily the tools to get it done with. It'd be awesome if I could find a kit that comes with everything including the stack itself but I've been so busy lately I haven't had the time to do in-depth research on the kits, etc. Maybe a link or something to kit? I'd love to be able to just buy the kit and take it to the shop and let them work their magic

Did the mounting kit come with everything needed?
Other than the stack itself?

Check out MBRP, they have a bunch of different kits to suit what you need. When I bought mine I just bought the stack and bought the rest of the pipe at a truck store.
