Maybe SEA04DMAX will see this thread and post up some pics of his engine stand. I used it for my build, and it worked flawlessly. It is a big, heavy duty stand with a geared head on it. I have no idea where one could be purchased, but I'd like to have one if/when I have to work on my engine again.

My 2000lbs one works great other than it is a pain to rotate the engine by ones self. I know you can but just the geared head thing but I cant seem to remeber where to get them.:(

Ted at MPL has the geared one and it's AWSOME kinda sketchy when you turn the block over and it would sag a little bit too,But it held my motor up:)

Personally I like this design, not mine, it would be even sweeter if it had a geared turning mechanism

I just weighed an '08 LMM engine complete less alternator and AC compressor, with shipping brackets on it it weighed 880.

The scales are state certified and are within 20lbs either way so it's 860 or 900 whichever way you slice it.

I have a "1500lb" engine stand. It is marginal with a 500lb engine on it. It wants to tip over.

That "Jegs" one (2000lb) is marginal with a Dmax on it, which I agree is about 880lb IIRC.

So basically, you need to be careful buying a stand that is less than twice the requirement nowadays. I think the Chinese got Kg confused with Lb's, and did the math backwards.

Back when I started working on cars, a 4000lb floor jack would lift about 6,000lb. Now they are lucky to lift 3000lb.

I have a 30 year old Sears floor jack that says 2 tons. It still works, and really lifts at least 5000lb. It will lift the front of our trucks.

I have a year old "3 ton" huge Chinese one, that won't lift the front end of a pickup.

I have a 2000# four legged one. I bought at my local auto parts store. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...tId=751334&itemId=76520&langId=-1&showValue=1 Works well. If I had it to do again I would get a geared head one like this.
