Hey guys I'm gonna have a local shop do a remove and replace on my Transmission I have the stock one in it now and it's limped more than a few times.

I picked up a slightly used built one from Andy Stevenson here on the forum along with new fleece trans lines and a 1074 he had.

My question is since I'm not present right now I'm going to have my wife or hopefully a buddy of mine take it up there but I want to be sure everything's done correctly I've asked a buddy to use a paint marker and randomly mark a few things under the truck and on the new transmission to make sure the shop does what they are supposed to.

But do I need to change anything else out while the trans is being replaced? How can I feel better that they won't mess up anything? I'm gonna have the fluids thinking Dex/Merc just need to check with Andy and see what he had in it.

Also thinking about getting a new flex plate from suncoast or SoCal.

I would do it myself but I don't get that much time at the house and when I get home in September in looking forward to spending time with my wife and daughter not working on my truck. Thanks guys

Have you done any research into the shop? If they have a good reputation and stand behind their work your being paranoid. No need to start off on the wrong foot right off the bat by trying to catch them "trying to cheat you". JMO attitudes like that make it real hard to build a good relation ship with a shop.

have the internal filter and external filter changed and make sure they know how to fill the trans to the correct spot when hot.

I know I'm being paranoid but it's mainly because I'm not home to be able to see the finished work the shop has a good reputation and work on a lot of trucks and do a good bit of work on dump trucks.

I've already got the filters and am about to order the fluids.

Im going to have the shop put in a merchant pump rub kit and I found 5 gallons of Quatrasyn for the trans but I may go Schaffer's All Trans any thoughts?

How many gallons will I need if im replacing the trans and lines? the trans has been filled not sure if its got any fluid in it at the moment ill have someone check.

As Mike said my right foot. First time it did it I was getting on the freeway and was rapidly rolling into the throttle :D and it stuck between gears I can't remember the code.

It doesn't it more now and with me being overseas and the wife driving the truck I figured time to upgrade.

I would just run a quality dex3 fluid unless the builder suggest something else. It isn't a race truck no point it running a fluid you can't get a most auto parts stores.

It's $2.00 more a gallon for the schaefers is why I was thinking go with it rather than the Castrol Dex III and I can get it mailed to the house for free
