Any feedback with cognitos leveling kit with fox shocks? I've used rancho 9k XL previously on my dodge and was very impressed.

Fox is the only correct length shock available for the Cognito UCA now. Bilstein used to be an option with a proprietary shock specific for Cognito, but Cognito dropped them last year. They were taking too long to build, and were always on back order. The standard "leveling" shock is almost 1/2" short for use with aftermarket UCA's because of the added travel. Fox is an easier company to deal with, and we very rarely have warranty returns.

I ran a set of fox shocks from norcal truck and they definitely rode a bit "firmer" than my buddy's bilstiens but I preferred the ride. It felt more confident. I have no experience with the ranchos.

Everybody has their own opinion what a "good shock" should feel like. I've had people go crazy on my sales staff, because they didn't like the Fox compared to how smooth their 300k mi blown out factory shocks were:rolleyes: . I personally like the stiffer ride, so when I'm cornering it's got that go kart feel :roflmao:. I also like the Fox off road because there is no noticeable shock fade when beating it up. Others idea of a "good shock" is that nice smooth Cadillac float feeling.

I'm actually getting ready to buy a 4" cognito NTBD lift just because of the fox shocks and the braces.

Awesome, nice high quality kit for sure! Still trying to talk myself into cutting my 17 up for a 4-6 Cognito when it comes in this week . What dealer are you going through?

I planned on buying one from you, I was looking on your site last night. I'm wanting the NTBD to help hide the lift to hopefully get out of doing a modified inspection.

You should be good on the inspection, we have customers out of country that are not allowed to lift at all, and they pass the strict inspections. One of them has a built thread on DF, with his build step by step on the inspection, I think he is in New Zeland iirc. Thanks for the business BTW .

you'll love that lift dude!, i liked the look of my NTBD lift vs the drop. The ride with the fox shocks was better then stock on my old 16.

This is what I was hoping for, I like a stiff ride but mines too rough and far from firm.

Good to know, regular inspection here is cake, but only certain shops do modified inspections here and they are picky as hell, look at tint and check all the lift components and such, and I like my dark windows and lack of DPF.

That kid with dually? And the sexy silverado ss? His truck turned out awesome, it's unfortunate he can't get as carried away as we can because it's very clean. Sounds like he might be doing head gaskets soon

Yeah same guy. He called in a few months ago wanting to add a dual shock hoop and shocks. Told him he'd be playing with Fire adding that much eye candy to his truck over there

If the truck is heavy blistien work nicely, Haven't tried fox or 9K general consensus is they are softer than silver body blistien, which would hurt ride quality when loaded

Might through some fox/9k on my 2500 suburban not sure yet.. it still has OEM shocks with 254k

I had the RS 9000 with in cab controls in another 4x4 but prefer the Bilstein 5100 series. I love the way Bilstein ride in my 3/4 ton. I'm looking into installing the HD Air Bags tomorrow before I pickup my new 5th wheel. If the airbags don't do the trick the last thing left will be the airbag King pin setup.

My biggest question is whose last the longest? Fabtech's lasted a year, Rancho 5k lasted 4 months on the fronts on my 6" lifted heavy ass truck.

Part of a shocks life is dependant upon the correct length shock, if they are constantly bottoming out or maxing out they will wear out very fast if you damage the valving.

The 9000s have a lifetime warranty and have a shock that fits a 6" lift.

^^ absolutely

Rancho 5k is junk. The set I had on my LLY didn't make it a month before the driver side busted hitting a pothole in a parking lot, pissed me off so I put on a set of Monroe gasmatics, 20 bucks and I wasn't mad when they shit the bed 60k later.

I get 100-120k out of the belistens, before they start double/pogo bouncing when loaded. Truck varies from 9-13,000lbs with the trailer and pending load

I have bilstein 5100s all around. Big improvement over stock. Can't comment on others but ranchos and foxes are both great

They were supposedly both for 6" lift kits so don't think that was the issue.
