I agree, jersey shore is as low as it gets. Id rather stare into a microwave for an hour than sit through that show, hell the microwave probably hurts your brain less too  . I like all the shows actually about something. Swamp loggers, swamp people, ax men. Shelby on ax men just makes that show and troy on swamp people is a trip too "choot eem en da hed lizibet". Even though they're all staged to a point they're still interesting to watch

Exactly there is some definite crap TV out there. Although the 'discovery' channel has changed through out the years to a lot of reality shows the majority is decent TV.

If you don't like those type of shows you could always watch Fear Factor! Dam if they don't get grosser by the episode. I heard a interview with Joe Rogan that they send the concoctions to the lab to insure it wont kill the individuals eating it! I kind of figured they must have to and he said that some have been rejected just because of that! :D

yep, Even Gold Rush is rigged.

Is that sarcasm or...?

Todd Hoffman has been trying to sell his show for years to Discovery.

Sorry to burst your bubble

Plus anyone who watches it knows that none of those idiots knows how to operate a piece of equipment. Being an operator it actually makes me mad how unsafe they are. To those who don't know any better wouldn't really notice though. They just go for the "wow" factor.

Ya I don't know about rigged ,you could be right ,I don't know one way or the other just a viewer but I doubt it is.

Some Staged? Lots of edits? Ya prolly but I do believe in the premise of the show is real. Plus that really is my fav so I'm bias. :D

Rigged staged edited still a good show to watch IMO. :thumb:

How can gold rush be completely rigged? Just because they have been trying to sell there show for years makes it rigged? I don't understand i felt it was one of the most ligit ones there was  And the equipment they are running in the show isn't really that complicated of equipment to learn. Yes they are not good operating and could not hold a candle to a experienced operating but really all they are doing is digging and hauling the dirt and dumping it in the wash station

No you're not ;)

No more "History" on the "History" channel. Just man reality soap operas that make the general human population look like complete idiots. I liked the history channel before all these stupid shows when I could actually learn something by watching it. Now I feel like my IQ drops every time I watch the history channel or discovery channel.

Oh thanks makes sense . I never watched the ghost or alien stuff. The rest yes. So there is plenty of history left it appears.

I watch the show if I catch it. Don't you find it a little odd that they can never get it figured out and they are constantly wrecking/breaking/adjusting the wash station? Wouldn't be much of a show if they were finding gold the whole season and making 10-20oz every clean out now would it.

With the little amount of gold they find there's no way they could pay for their overhead costs, the costs of machinery, and to make their struggle worth while profit wise. They make their money from staging an entertaining struggle and being a bunch of idiots with power struggles and arguments with a bunch of camp drama.

When their front end loader broke down- they had the brakes on when they "couldn't pull it" with the hitachi 400. Then like a bunch of idiots they used the D8 and instead of hooking like anyone who's been around machinery would they go up and over the blade hoping to break the cable again. If they took the brake off the loader and hooked it to the back of the D8 like your supposed to there wouldn't be an issue. That hitachi 400 has around 90k pounds of breakout force I would guess and that loader maybe weighs 35k pounds.

They also said it cost 3 grand to get that bolt out that broke  please, I've done the same thing and got it out with a minimal amount of tools I had on hand. Plus it didn't take 2 days and two "special mechanics"

The only one I don't see faking on that show is Parker Snoble or however you spell it. At least his story isn't riddled with failure/unbelievable story line. But they don't give him much camera time either.... wonder why.

If you want to watch an entertaining show look up Top Gear... and not the terrible American version. I can watch Tanner Foust for about 10 minutes before I want to watch paint dry instead.

Top Gear UK has 18 series with at minimum 6 episodes per series. If you want to be entertained, watch those goons. Some people don't get British humor though so eh.

no bubble burst... I have worked for Discovery for the last 7 years. It just too bad even a show about digging a hole can be "scripted". TV sucks. I prefer shows like Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Shameless, House of Lies.

having worked in TV for the last 15 years, I have seen the decline of the medium. I gotta find a new line of work.

Monty Python, Benny Hill and The Young Ones -- now there were three shows with some good humor.

Cornell I'll give it to you you do make some valid points but it's TV if they don't make it interesting people wouldn't watch it for long.

As far as them affording it I thought that they have sold equipment ($80 G's) and also have invested their own money. Todd and his father owned property and that airport they sold and I believe the others invested also. Does Discovery put money in or pay I have no idea but assume they do. Certainly the Gold they fetch isn't paying for it.

I have never Gold mind so I can't say if they're doing right or wrong in a timely fashion all I do know is as they stated bought Junk off the side of the road for equipment. So it's going to bust. Also they say that they have no idea what they are doing BUT yet they make reference on how Jack already lost his shirt years ago Gold Mining! So are they really Newbies? Also how hard can it be if a Seventeen year old (Parker) can do it pretty much on his own?

Anyway I find the show entertaining although perhaps ,ok prolly is , half fake half real! It's TV after all entertainment take it for what it is. I'd imagine with out the drama it probably would be boring. For the most part TV is really a bunch of made up BS and acting so why would reality TV be any different. IMO I'd rather watch a bunch of ordinary Joe's then a bunch of over paid celebs any day. IMO it's still isn't a half bad show built around a idea of down on their luck guys surviving in this economy. I say we all get together and Go Gold Mining and show them how to get it done! :D

I wonder if Bearing Sea Gold will be any closer to real reality? Should we discuss the "King" of reality TV ,the show that started it all, SURVIVOR? :roflmao:

You gotta luv the hot chicks running around in their undies! :roflmao:

I use the website to fill loads and help me make a living. Now every a$$whole in the world is on it thinking they are going to make big money as a shipper. You guys shouldnt like this show either. All you need is a couple of these idiots to lose some sh1t in the road or kill a family and the DOT will change the laws and everyone driving a diesel or 2500/3500 will be required to stop at the weigh stations or subject to commercial inspections. You wont even be able to tow you pulling trucks to the track without getting your balls busted. They did the same to fishing, now the regulations are crazy. I hate shows like this....:mad::mad::mad::mad:
