i need to pull my tranny due to a cracked flexplate. i'm wondering if i should go ahead and do the transgo shift kit while i have the tranny out? any thoughts?

No, the Transgo kit for 5 speeds requires the transmission to come out. The Transgo Jr. for the 6 speeds is done with the trans in the truck
i hear that! im just tryin to buy myself some extra time. will it help at all? i don't have the money for for a full tranny build.
If your pulling the transmission yourself than you can put your own kit in IMO. The biggest cost is the torque converter and labor. By a kit from MikeL and he'll walk you through the install. Just do it
If you've never raised the power or don't plan on it above a small tow tune than don't bother. Anything 100 hp or better you have to for longevity. You'd be surprised the difference just with a 100 HP tune with a built transmission!
