I seem to have a transfer case that can't decide what gear it's in all of the sudden. It is kicking out of 4x while I'm plowing snow and it's starting to annoy me to put it nicely. Every once in a while I'm getting a shift encoder dtc and I can now drive down the road at 65mph with the TC in neutral, and this morning I drove about 45 miles in 4lo, and yesterday it never even lit up So I got to thinking what if it decides to shift into 4wd at 90? So I decided to check at the stealer to see what it would cost almost $600. I laughed at him. Then I was talking to one of the techs thats a friend of mine and he was telling me that some of these things had to be in a certain gear to change the motor or it wouldn't work right. Anyone know for sure if it has to be in any certain gear? Or know where I can get a shift motor a LOT cheaper by any chance?
