after 2 weeks of waiting i finally got the truck running again.

Here is the bad compressor wheel that started all of this

then while removing the down pipe and up pipes i break 4 bolts off in it

so i drill and tap all those out, take it all apart and swap the wheel then the shaft breaks when i try to torque it back down FML:( so i bought a used one (HUGE thanks to blksmklb7 for shipping it so fast before the payment even cleared  )

While waiting for the new turbo i decided to polish the compressor cover inside and out, paint the exhaust housing, and slightly port and polish the exhaust inlet in the pedestal (forgot to take pics of the exhaust inlet)

And after a LOT of cussing and getting mad, sad, depressed, and happy again i got it all back together and running:D:driving:

It was a nice tight turbo should last a while you sure made it look nice all polished up.Now we need to get that clutch bought and put it so you can see if the small improvments will help a touch :D

The polish job looks good. Did you polish the turbo inlet pipe also?

Thanks guys :D:hug: I was going to polish the inlet pipe too but im going to buy a bills 5" intake and mouthpiece with the MAF mount before too long so im just going to wait and polish that one when it gets here. For now i just painted it flat black so it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb. I also painted the banks big head and bracket after i took the pics, the gold just didnt look right next to the silver lol

^^ Your not kidding. It also doesn't help when the truck is 2 hours away sitting in his shop haha! If only i had my own shop in my backyard!

Damn were you feeding rocks through that turbo? That wheel looks "turrible"!

I had my injectors changed at an extremely reputable shop that was highly recommened by lots of friends last year because i didnt have the time to do it myself and after i picked it up i noticed the turbo was making a different sound (almost like a belt driven super charger) but i just wrote it off as a small boost leak somewhere that i would search for later but after checking for boost leaks and not finding anything i knew that wasnt the problem. I discovered the wheel when i changed the mouthpiece to a ported one (about 2 months after changing the injectors so im assuming the shop dropped something in it) and was told by a several people i should stop driving the truck until i got a new turbo but i didnt have the money at the time and it hadnt blown up yet so i figured it would be ok and luckily i was right. But after my experience with this i honestly dont believe balancing a turbo is that crucial, kinda like having the bores trued up after head studs, is it th right way? yes. Is it 100% necessary? No.
