X2 on tensioner, get one from dealer. I remember when I got mine,it was actually a few bucks cheaper than parts store. imagine that.

X5 its the tensioner. I lost my belt at the end of a run last year. Its no fun losing brakes/steering at 90mph. Thank God I carried a spare belt, other wise I wouldnt have gotten home. Id replace the two idler pulleys at the same time. Good insurance.

I am at my whits end with my truck too!:( i have replaced the idler pulleys, tensioner and tensioner pulley. My belt is getting torn up too often, the belt jumps over after a hard run and over 4000 rpm 100+mph. My buddy says he had the same problem and he remedied it with a better bearing, i will find out soon and let you know whats happening

I've been in the same situation. Replaced tensioner first(with aftermarket tensioner) didn't fix it. Replaced both idlers, didn't fix it. Replaced alternator, cause the bearings felt like the were starting to bind, didn't fix it. Like seven belts later I purchased another tensioner from the dealership(knowing that it wouldn't fix the problem) and have never had a problem since!

Vaz, use a straightedge and check your pulley alignment, esp the powersteering pulley. Thats probably whats going on in your case.

at ~144,000 miles...I'm thinking it's time to do mine. May as well do the tensioners at the same time. Given the info here...I will for sure use OEM parts.
thanx,

Theo

Is the idler pulley on the tensioner for My 03 2500 HD Duramax a separate part??:(....The dealer says I have to purchase a new tensioner with pulley for $107.51

I couldn't get just the pulley on the tensioner from the dealer. I took the pulley off and brought it into a couple parts houses, and one of them was able to find a match (I think it was Napa?). Cost me like $20 instead of 100+, and has been working for over 10k miles.
