Hi Everyone! New guy here from RI with a '03 GMC 2500HD DD LB7, just rolled into 120K today and is HURTING BADLEY!

Hope this is in the right section?

BREIF OVERVIEW:
In short... Approx. 1 year ago the transmission pan & plate above were damaged - AMICA INSURANCE covered the repairs. HURD AUTO MALL in Johnston, RI did the repairs - A year later, after a line blew, a local shop discovered HURD AUTO MALL installed the Allison Trans. lines To/From the Cooler incorrectly, as to flow in the opposite direction. YUP - that's right!

Even though, I complained of lack of power, after the initial repairs, a year ago, it fall on deaf ears! Contacted AMICA INSURANCE recently and they sent me a letter refusing to help  saying this is between me and HURD AUTO MALL - GREAT!

CURRENT STATUS:
Now the truck is running poorly and has codes...
P0087 - Fuel Rail System Pressure too Low
P1093 - Fuel Rail Pressure Low
P0380 - Glow Plug Circuit A
P0404 - EGR Control Circuit Range
P0700 - Transmission Control System

I'm REALLY concerned about this trucks health (and my wallets) -
MONEY is tight - My business is slow + getting married in MARCH.
PLEASE HELP - I HONESTLY NEED IT! NOT SURE WHAT TO DO!
I'm very mechanically inclined but I just don't know where to start - What can I DO before I have to bring it to a shop????

THANK YOU ALL!!
I can be emailed at[email protected]

I don't see a list of installed goodies in your sig. but, if you have a chip/power programming of some sort, does this happen on stock setting? Do you have a way of clearing the codes or logging? If you have a way of logging, you might just hook up and log for a half a minute then post up your log. Good luck.

Hi Mike -

I don't have a chip/programmer in the truck, maybe down the line.
Not sure how to do logging - is this something a local auto parts can help with? - They were the ones that pulled the codes for me tonight.

Thanks, Jay

For the low fuel rail pressure, do a bottle test to see if the FPR (? may be wrong acronym) is bad. You may need to shim it.

Link to Bottle test... http://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1995&highlight=bottle+test

Glow plug Circuit A. Probably a bad glow plug. Use Ohm meter and test each one. The one that is extremely different is the bad one.

EGR circuit voltage. May need to take it off and clean it. Otherwise, it could be a bad sensor or bad EGR valve.

IIRC P0700 is a generic transmission code.

Changed Filthy Fuel Filter - Take a LQQk at these Pics -

Mike - Can't believe I overlooked changing the filter first. To my great surprise my filter was FILTHY - Loaded with crape. See pics

I'll have the codes cleared tom. PM and keep you all informed, as to how the truck is running. Runs so much better after the filter change.

Now I'm wondefring what may be in the tank.

Thnaks for all the replies!

drop the tank and have it thoroughly cleaned, seeing rust on the fuel filter and whatever that sludge is would give me a heart attack...

i would highly reccomend better than stock filtration and some form of fuel additive in every tank

That is quite a bit of sludge/grit. I get a little grit with every filter change, but that is what the filter is for. You aren't damaging your engine with the crap in the tank, just plugging expensive filters faster than necessary. I would consider cleaning the tank, if you've got the time.

How many miles were on that filter?

Change my fuel filter every 3k, but probably over kill sense they come out looking new. But thats how I do my oil changes every 3k as well. (Some say I am pissing money away, maybe I am but o well)

i have two one micron nicktane filters in series on my truck and filtermags on every filter.

as for the oil change thing, you are pissing money away, I have a dual guard amsoil bypass and i change my oil every 30k miles as per the laboratory.
