Ok... So ive been thinking about this for about a month or so. My dmax adventure has led me to nothing more than a good motor and trans. Other than that, it's been a knock down drag out all up hill with things such as fuel pumps, tuning and some dictatorship over this whole dmax performance stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love this community and love the people I've met. But damn.... I'm in the military. I make like $2.00 an hour. So I'm thinking of a more budget friendly toy....
Now comes in the 2003+ chevy silverado 1500 w/5.3L LM7. I've read of numerous people on several forums running these budget motors with single S475's or twin turbos (size on twins I do not recall) with only MOTOR upgrades being head studs, springs and a cam for added power. Springs and studs seem to be the only supporting mod. However, a lot of guys (not all) have chosen to run ARP rod bolts as well. I don't blame them. Still, all around, that's CHEAP!
Kay and pat, hope yall don't object to these questions as this is a dmax board. If so... Erase at will.
My question is towards any guys with LS experience. I've noticed that people run 80#/60# etc. injectors but depending on E85 vs premium, some injectors won't work but others will? Can any of you explain to me what these other guys Are talking about when they say "IDC is xx% @WOT" with said injectors? Its seems like the injectors are just at their point of max fuel and that's as far as the motor will go. They are the weak link. YES I KNOW "Idc" is injector duty cycle... But what's the difference in all this with E85 vs premium?
I'm just trying to get some basics before I venture to them for questions. They are some cut throat ****s over there. I don't wanna deal with their "you never been on a forum!? Read a sticky!" bs
I just don't know much on LS performance. I've built an LM7 from ground up.... But it was stock specs. Idk much about cam durations, head cc's timing, NA vs FI etc.... I know that you add **** tons of fuel and air to a dmax and you go fast. That's about it.
