From what i've read on CompD traction always seems to be an issue at that track does Scheid not pay them to properly prep it?
I wasn't there when it happened, but some truck didn't get it shut down and went through the bushes I hear... Anyone got a video on that? I think it was Darren Morrison
There were cops sitting in the parking lot directly across the street at the end of the track. Before any of this happened I thought to my self I wouldn't be hanging out in that spot, just incase someone couldn't get slowed down.
The tracked flat out sucked. Darren was the first victim when his chute didnt open but sustained no damage and was ok. John robinson fought traction all day and nearly wrecked every pass, including the last against darren. Matt and the Boneshaker ran solid all day and put down a 5.75 at almost 117 against john and luckily treed the crap put of him because about 15 ft out john crossed into Matts lane just behind him due to a blown water line wetting down a tire. Phils run was incredible...Soo fast.
I had the blue dmax out there on fri night, the track prep is a joke! A guy has a mop, and hangs out at the starting line only. When trucks get squirrely at half track, they will barely do something
is Scheid cheap? this seems to be a reoccurring issue at these "amazing" national diesel events? Say I had a quick/fast race truck, drove from California to SDX, and they decided to not use VHT I would have a freak out session.
They used vht at some point. I don't think the track is shied's gig, they only provide security personel there. The track just sucks in general. I wouldn't travel from cali to race there.
I live here in terre Haute and I couldn't agree more the track needs resurfaced bad I have only gotten a good launch once out of the three times having my truck there. They were talking last year that if the cops weren't calmed down this year scheid was going to indy but idk where that is going to go now. State police were brought in and they were thick.
Because the track is on the fairgrounds, and that is where the whole event is held.
The track is definitely a down fall of the event I have been running there for 3 or 4 years and I have to say this was the worse it has ever been. Friday night it sucked I was cutting 1.70s lol. Sat they did a better job but they got the semi trucks out there and they ripped up the all the prep.
The track just sucks! We went there first of the year with NADM and best we could do was a 5.60 on a mid track shut down, got way too lose.....im not risking my car trying to be a hero, aint worth it

So you're saying that Scheid doesn't care if someone gets hurt, just as long as they're making money? That's a pretty bold statement.

track is conviently located just over the fence from the truck pulls. I was there in 03 and 04 and everyone had traction issues then. I couldn't imagine now!
Tim, thanks to you and Ben for all the help with Boneshaker. It was great having you guys in the pits with us. The kids said to tell Ben to bring his own squirt gun next time. After watching the video, it wasnt all that close, but I'm sure glad it stuck that run! Good luck to you guys getting home today. I sure hope the damage is minimal. See ya soon.
