SD Manifold Question

I got my SD manifold in the mail yesterday and it has a little nipple already isntalled. I dont need it for my boost gauge since I bought the electric sender boost gauge. I see that is has two large holes with plugs in them then the nipple then the smaller plug. Will the electric sender for my boost gauge screw into the hole where the nipple is at? I would just test it myself but my boost gauge is 200 miles from me right now and its bothering the hell out of me not to know lol.

Automete Cobalt EGT and Elec Boost, in a black trippin overhead, just havent had time to install it. Ive got my gauges, mount, bd manifold, sd manifold, and diamond pipe sitting in the garage waiting on me to have time to install it.

Drive on up here to San Angelo and I'll help you, I've gotten gauge installs down to an art :D The Diamond Eye shouldn't be a problem either :)

I like the nexus gauges but they are a little too rich for my blood by the time you buy the expensive gauges then you buy the control unit thing you are talking 600 bucks for just EGT and Boost and I would keep it on the blue and red theme anyway and I had cobalts in my Z71 and liked them, just need to figure out a way to dim them, three of those bastards staring you in the face at night damn near blinds you.

Autometer sells a Dimmer switch, I have one installed with mine, I have another dimmer going in this weekend with 2 more gauges. PM me for the dealer that I found that sells them, probably most anybody that carries the Autometers will have it though. It costs around $25.00 and they said one dimmer will run several gauges, right now I have one dimmer on four Cobalt gauges, I'm just putting in a second dimmer for the two new gauges i'm installing this weekend.

I see in your signature you have the Trippin Overhead mount, is that what you are installing the gauges in or is it already being used.

Your on your own with the BD Manifold though, I do have a friend or two that might be willing to tackle that one, you'd have to work out that one with them.

Why you afraid of the BD manifold? lol

They would be going in the trippin mount. I can handle the bd manifold, from what Ive read it can be a pain in the ass to get the bolts out but Im sure I can handle it. Its mainly nice just to have someone who knows what they are doing to help out, all my friends are morons and dont care about anything but drinking and golf.

I also have a blocker plate that I need to put in, is it worth re-routing the PCV system on these things. I deleted it off my old truck and ran a catch can system, that thing poured oil in my intake especially after I went to a stroker motor that had more blow-by.

I think its worth re-routing, But I havent seen under the hood of a LBZ, it shouldnt be any different than the LLY though, so it should be easy enough to do, mines vented under the truck, no catch can, no leaks yet. Check with PPE and see if they have a delete kit for your EGR, that would be better than just blocking it. Routing the gauges to the Trippin mount is easy and tapping for boost and pyro is simple as well. This weekend is tied up on my truck, I can do it the following though, just need a little notice.

I have a good dealer, I had them install the bd manifold and diamond eye pipe while they were flushing my injectors and cooling system, it cost around $150 labor for both, I have had my diamond eye off though for the Cheetah install and also to install a bung in it for a 2nd egt gauge. I hear the first time off is a pain, the next 2 times were'nt bad though.

Shit I wish I could find a dealer to isntall them for 150. I would pay that gladly but taking off on a friday to come up there and get them to do it I would lose alot more then that in pay from work. Its already been broke loose on the exhaust side from installing my corsa but I know the turbo outlet side is the PITA. Its going to be atleast two weeks before I would be able to come up there, going to del rio this weekend then working all next weekend most likely. I let you know. Maybe I can get the BD manifold installed during the week next week.

Autometers site says it is a 1/8NPT, so I can pull the black nipple out and thread my electric sender in for my boost gauge correct?

Yes you can,If the wire harness is not long enough you could also run a hose of the manifold and put the sensor on the fire wall

carefull where you rought the wires

Both the BD and the Diamond Eye are easy to install. The stock is more of a pain to get off because of the heat shield and stuff. take the dipstick off the bolt its on - should be fine with it down in the trans though. Ratching 10mm wrench is recommended and getting the stock off the turbo aint bad, just loosen the clamp, pry it away to get it to pop loose on all 3 sections. If need be lift on the exhaust end to twist the turbo end and break it loose. PCV re-route is simple and keeps all the oil out of your turbo and intercooler. BD manifold isn't too hard either - inner fender, steering shaft (hold wheel with tape or bungee), and then bolts. Spray them with good penetrating oil a day before, then while they are warm after you get to where you are installing it, then right before you break them loose and they should be easy. Gauges are also easy and I have my DiPricol gauges wired to my factory dimmer wire so they dim with the dash - but they also come with dimmers on the wiring kit that you set before you install them.

Isnt it a 12mm?

Very good info though:)

One other small thing if you want to take the heatshield off the turbo dont be scared to get tough with it and/or bend it:D It will bend back
