sc III question mike

i got a sc stage III for an 06 dmaxs that im lookin to get installed still and i had a guy tell me today that i need to go ahead and upgraded my c4 clutches is this true !! truck has 109k with very little abuse !! he was tellin me that if i dont the tranny want last with a big tune !! i dont mind spendin the extra money but if this is the cause i wish i would of went ahead and bought a stage 4 go figure lol!!

I know you are looking for answers from Mike....but how much HP do you plan to run through your truck? And who did you buy your Stage III kit from? Because if you buy a tranny re-build kit...Stage III or Stage IV.... it should come with all new clutches.....at least mine did and so did everyone elses that I know. I'm just confused by your post.

Correct.
The C4 clutch replacement is much more important on a 6 speed than 5 speed because the clutch pack is used in 6th gear as well as 2nd. The fact that 6th gear is upshifting and downshifting puts the C4 clutch pack through a lot of heat cycles considering they are being pulsed ( slipped ) on and off.
I rarely saw much damage on the C4 clutch on the 5 speeds but see them burned up on a regular basis on the 6speed.

i bought the kit from sun coast !! i just want to do some custom tuning maybe 450 !! thanks mike, is there anything else that i need to get like convertor flow valve!!
