Hey guys last Saturday I pulled my truck. I was rolling into it in 1st about 30ft out the trans flared then loaded again. About 60ft out it flared and coasted to a stop. I wouldn't go forward. I was able to back to the sled to unhook. I put it in drive and it would only creep away. If I gave it gas it just reved. I cleared the codes and forgot to write them down. It still only creeped like 1-2mph. I left it sit for a day and tried it, still nothing just reverse. I can't get the check engine light to come on to check codes again. I dropped the pan and it's full of black shavings. I was told that it was most likely a stuck valve or tore up c1 clutches. Any ideas? I need to have it fixed asap so I ordered a SC stage 4 with a 1058. What special tools and info do I need to put the kit in? I plan on getting an Allison manual and I have access to GM manuals. Any info or ideas would be great. Thanks.

this thread shows about what you need for tools , and post up any questions along the way and we can all help . with the atsg it shouldnt be too bad . just take it slow and pay attention to how everything comes out and lay it out in order of removal and face everything how it was removed . Soory about your failure :( plus side is when its done you can crank it up a bit more :D

I have already been having fun. Mine has been built before, but not suncoast. Any idea on the size of them pvc couplers in the pic? I would like to have everything ready ahead of time.

Sounds like you tore up the C1 pack pretty bad. I needed to buy a set of metric wrenches and metric deep well sockets when I pulled mine. I honestly didnt need any special tools to build it but the press will make it much easier.

Is there an easy way to flush the lines and radiator? There was alot of shaving and some tiny chunks in the pan. I would feel much better if I could somehow flush the system. Would it be worth pulling the passanger side exhaust manifold to get more room for the converter bolts?

Yea I got the starter out and thought it would give a little more room to turn a rachet. I assume you do this through the wheelwell.

remove the skidplate on the front of the truck and use a long extension.

Its gonna take about 4 feet of extensions and at least 2 swivels. Must be 1/2in drive and you may need a breaker bar. I was able to put them back in with a wrench though.

how high off the ground does the truck need to be for the trans to come out from under it?

Guess I'm gonna have to do mine in at the house as friend and their lift are busy with pulling trucks. :(

the rocker panels are going to have to be at least two feet off of the ground. Id depends how high the trans jack or dolly is that the tranny is sitting on also.

oohhh no lift is going to be no fun. id say you need at least 2 feet between the ground and frame rails.

i just pulled the starter, that was good enough. pulling the skid plate is good for getting the lower starter bolt out

Yeah, I was trying to figure how many 4x4s I'd need to put under the jackstands and jack to get the frame high enough off the ground...

Sorry for the little hijack. Hope you don't mind.

Definetly be careful stacking 4x4's and jackstands under a diesel. Don't need to hear how your truck flattened you.
