Under a big a$$ rock...
Can the 1057 be sent back and changed to a 1055.

I have asked Mike this very question twice now, but I think I am going to wait a little longer before I pull my trans out and make a switch.

Mike, is there any way to soften the 3-4 bang without doing internal work? Maybe tunning? Its hitting so hard it will chirp the tires at 3/4 throttle on dry pavement...

No.
Different converter. You are better off selling yours and buying the 1055.

i know you said the 1057 can no be changed into the 1055 , is the 1054 in the same boat or can it be changed to the 1055 or something looser? i have gained alot by tuning but it is still just too tight to let my turbo spool, after wot it probably takes 4-5 secs to get things rolling and thats smoking like a freight train, also with lower tunes , stock tune prob takes 6-7 secs to get it spooled ( my times are gestimates i can stop watch it if nec ) how can i test the stall speed to see were i'm at . by the way i love the cooler , trans went from 195 - 200 to 170 - 180 , well worth the money !

I don't see how the 1054 is too tight for a small turbo like that. the BD is an S300 turbo. I run a 4094 with a 1057 and it lights fine. I doubt your problem is lying within the converter

have you ever ran a 54 ? why would it be that same tune before 54 was fine and after trans build it would not spool up , since then i have moddified every tune i have to help the issue but i know what my truck is doing and what it isnt, and maybe the particuler 54 i got is to tight that is why i was asking how to check the stall speed ?

The 1054 is very close to the 1057. The 1057 stall is 1800 rpm. Give MikeL a call he will have you answer.

thanks for the info , sorry if my post sounded short i was in a hurry typing and after reading back it didnt quite come out right , i was going to call mike but i figured if i posted it would be info others could veiw and might be useful , either for choosing a converter or diagnosing a problem if i find out one exsist, also i'm getting ready to have htt upgrade the s300 to there 71mm with a stainless housing but i have been hesitant with the spooling problems i am having with this small of a turbo were is a sheep hearder when ya need one

Now that my fuel problem is fixed I have a better feel for the 1054. My turbo lights fast and I'm running a Moonshine tune and nothing else. Are you sure you're getting enough fuel?

in the buckeye state
try adjusting when/how much pedal you need to unduce down shift and/or disengage the TC

also can change you mid point/part throttle shift points as well.

i have been playing with my shift points and its helped when towing alot, mike i believe i'm getting enough fuel its smoking like a freight train, if i nail it at the bottom ( like 3rd and converter is not locked ) of a gear it smokes like crazy till it lights the turbo but it takes so long i usually end up staying in that gear instead of down shifting, and when doing a boosted launch it takes about 7-10 sec to get to 10 psi i know i can change the down shift settings but i never had that problem before. its not that i dont like the converter it drives fine but it really feals like its hindering the performance of the truck, it feals sluggish and unresponsive till the turbo gets going , by the way it feels i should have a a5k turbo not a little bd supermax , i have verified that there is no boost leaks how do i verify what my stall speed is ? i can give you a call if its easier ?

i will try that, that has crossed my mind but i wasnt sure if that could happen, i run several tunes and i usually try to tune out smoke if i can and after trans build i simply had to throw more fuel at it to get things going i sarted at a little and kept adding maybe i got carried away amd a might have loosend up a little sense then ill try a few things today and try to get some acurate times and rpm's for spool up

Sorry about the OT Kat, but where can i find vids of you guys racing? What was the outcome of Pat and that dodge?

They are buried all over this board and on DP.

One of these days when I get off my lazy arse I need to make a thread in the gallery and add them all

I believe he won :D

I'd say you're fogging the motor out. There's a point where you have so much fuel it prolongs spoolup. Take some fuel out of the bottom end and I guarantee it will be faster.

brayden thanks for the advice i believe i am on the right track i have been redoing all of my fuel quantity tables from scratch and i belive its getting better it will take me a while to be sure. i am using this testing to try and get the smoke out of my tunes also and get better spool up but it will take a while having to make small changes and drive then again, and again, you get the point i should know in a couple of days.
