Picked up a sc1053 (2600) from a member and thought i was good to go as far as lighting these big trips but this pos stalls at 16-1900 and couples so well it just dragges the motor down to the point there is no hope in hell getting lit.I thought i made a wise choice with this converter but really dissapointed.Any thoughts or simular issues?

There are 3 different 1053's!

- 1053 2600rpm
- 10531 2800rpm
- 10532 3000rpm

I have a 10532 in my pulling truck and can get around 3,100 out of it holding at the line.

Didn't you buy a used converter and have someone local refresh it for you? Correct me if I'm wrong, but thought you had talked to be about a used converter I had for sale.

I was thinking the other day if you still had that 1053.I may still need it..I got this good working 1053 from spiro and while its a good converter there is somthing off with it,possibly a restall.he mensioned he needed more stall so he swaped it out.

Unfortunately I don't have mine anymore! I tried 2 different 3000rpm Precision converters and had a really hard time getting my turbo to light, put that 10532 in and lights it with ease!

Also wondering how a spool shot affects stall. This truck needs spray bad to clean up but will it just blow the rubber off or will a small shot raise my stall?Soon find out i guess.

Is it pushing through the brakes at 1900 or it wont go above that rpm?

Starts pushing through at 16 but i can hold it until 19 then sits and smokes or the tires will start slow rollin.once there slow rollin another 10-15 seconds then comes up slow.then bang...all hell breaks loose.my dyno sheet is a slow climb then almost vertical.smoked the tires at 5k and scared the shit out of the dude eye level with the roller.

You need to check the stampings on it. I'm betting you have a regular 1053 "low stall". 2400 stall....same situation on a buddies truck. They ordered a 1053 not realizing there were different ones. Couldn't get but 1800-1900 rpm out of it with big turbos. Realized the mistake, swapped it for a 1053-1 and no more issues.

I can stall 3000rpm with my 1053-1.

Sounds like what i have goin on Mike.If i could get 3k and lit from a dig this truck would be scary.Spoke with Mark and he's going to send up a tcm tune for a second gear start so im excited to see how it plays out But Il start shopping for a 1 or 2 for sure.

We were able to get 39xx, sometimes 4000 rpm out of a 1053-1 last year every run. 4th gear start, 4.56 gears. The 1055 from year before would get 3600 but would couple so hard that the charger wouldn't come to life. Suncoast definitely makes great converters and it's cool to see the stall & coupling differences when switching models.
