Yes I ment smell, I had no idea that the smell would stick as much as the after thoughts. I kept the story as clean as I could for the internet.

also: My dad is a former Firefighter, God bless you guys!

No the smell of blood is quite strong, when there is major blood loss, the smeel of Iron is heavy. There was a Britt that took a large chunk of rebar through his chest from incoming a few months back, the smell was awfull. The way some people act in those situations is crazy, they lose all control and common sence. It takes a level head to keep going and assess the situation. There was a guy tryin to pull the rebar out of this guy myself and a Marine who was on excort duty with had to stop him.

Russ you did a very good thing. It is never easy seeing those things. But to take control of the situation like you did is a fine quality.

GOOD JOB.

Wow, I had no idea! Again, not to be insensitive, just curious! Thanks for awnsering to my ignorance fellas:hug:I have no problem imagining smells if it had been a while, as anything organic will stink after a bit but right away, I had no idea:eek: The iron-ish smell makes sense, i actually can recall that myself now thinking. Flesh though, still baffles me i some:eek: I'll leave it at that.

Still, I know its rough right now Russ, but this story has a good ending thanks to you, and thats what matters, Keep positive!

Ya way to go. LOTO is important in any field. We have had poeple get fired for not locking out or depressurizing before working on somthing. We have to have 3 poeple sign off before we work on somthing. Plus do a start fail before locking it out.

Employee loses arm at packing plant
Man gets caught in machinery while working at Ingomar.
By CORINNE REILLY
[email protected]
An employee at Ingomar Packing Co. in Los Banos lost an arm in an accident at the plant Thursday morning.

The employee, a 23-year-old man whom authorities would not identify by name, was installing a new conveyor belt when his left arm became caught in the machinery, amputating it just above the elbow, Merced County Sheriff's spokesman Tom MacKenzie said.

He said nearby employees rushed to help the victim. "They were able to stop the bleeding pretty fast," MacKenzie said. "They probably saved his life."

Officials said the man was airlifted to a Modesto hospital. They couldn't say Thursday whether doctors might be able to reattach his arm.

Officials at Ingomar wouldn't comment on the accident. "He's in the hospital. We've notified the family. That's all we can say right now," said Jim Murphy, Ingomar's vice president of operations.

Alot better! Im actually able to sleep again. The first week was pretty ruff. It's crazy how little things (Daughters Mr potato head arm laying on livingroom floor) bring it right back though!

Well Good! Lord knows, its rough next day running on bad sleep! I know how ya feel in a round-about sort of way. Since i test drive cars alot everyday at work, on my test route, theres a spot where a tragic accident happened, everytime i drive over it, i get that crappy feeling in my gut cause it affected me wierd to see. Good to hear your on the upswing!

wow, very honerable of you to save a mans life!
i know what you mean about the level headedness of a person in a panic situation...i guess i am one of those that remains calm, like the time i cut my hand just about off across the palm and my thumb was 90% cut off, i calmly wrapped it up in a shop rag (of all things) and drove myself to the E/R as my wife flat out could not as she was a mess..lol, i even helped the nurse stuff my hand guts back in and stitch it up! lol
