I have been debating on doing a solid axle swap for a while and have decided I am willing to go for it...I was wondering if anybody had any input on this subject pros and cons will both be greatly appreciated...I am going to go with the pure performance kit with the four link coilover combo not leaf springs and will be running a dana 60 front axle...before I pull the trigger I would just like to know if there are any reaons why not to go for it

The hardest part is cutting the stock suspension off a fairly expensive vehicle. I run leafs, they work fine and ride pretty good, very stable, I like coilovers better. Might switch to coilovers to go taller, the pure performance kit is made to use a third gen dodge front end, I'd get free wheeling hubs, idk if their kit comes with a SYE for the front transfer case output but if you don't do one, you will pull the input out of the case. The kit looks pretty good, I'd look at a torsion sway bar set up while you are at it, if it doesn't come with one. Just do as much preparing\reading as you can and call pure performance to pick their brain about any little complications that you may run into during the swap, brake line relocation and sensors and such, your Abs probably won't work and there may be other little things of that nature that have to be addressed
yeah it shouldnt be hard to do I've build alot of off road rigs for people and have torched off stock suspension parts of several nice things it hurts at first but it's worth it in the end...I would build the links etc. my self but its my DD and I dont have time to play with it setting up link angles, fabing parts, and all that...but yeah I'm gonna give them a call soon...I already have a Dana 60 laying around I would rebuild and throw a locker in...Im looking for about 7" of lift...just never done this on anything near the weight, power, or pulling capacty of a dmax
Dynatrac has a abs conversion for the 78'-79' Hp dana 60, they don't list it on there site you have to call them. They prefer to do the work but will sell just the parts.
I have a Offroad Direct SAS in the garage with 38" tires. I was pissed at the ifs at the time and wanted a simpler front end with less BS to wear out, so I went with a leaf kit. Alaska winters are hard on all the ifs parts.
I am having second thoughts now that Righteyeblind has me bitten with the drag race bug. Thinking maybe a 11 second time slip this summer, then lift it. Thats my only negative I can see with the SAS.

Hey.. Toby has a solution for the ABS setup so you can run a D60. Givev him a ring he will shoot you in the right direction. i was really close to going with the PP front kit. I am going to run Toby's kit up front and the PP desert coil-over kit w/ airbags in rear. If you have any Q's let me know.
IMOP ORD with a 05-up ford super 60 under it and some correctly set up deaver springs and correct valved shocks is the most bulletproof way to go and will still give a great ride on the road. its got me very interested in doin it down the road here.
I agree, ORD builds some very nice stuff. Great welds, strong brackets, excellent craftsmanship.
I had ALCAN spring custom build my springs 5" lift, should net 8" total once installed (3" lift with the SAS brackets). They had a ton of questions for me about this, that, & what not so they could get me the best ride on the street.
6 Fox 2.0 Resi shocks, i'll have to play with the valving shims until I get them to ride the way I want.
I Have 79' dana 60 with the narrow 32.5" spring pad width, don't want the tires rubbing the leafs at full lock. I'll use the dynatrac abs kit.
I think with 38x15.50x20" toyo's & 4.56 gears she should still be pretty quick stop light to stop light...
I've been looking at the XXX one some today they seem to know their stuff and I've seen alot of bad things about the pure performance kit...leaf springs would be easier and just as good but I'm really itching for the four link
...only thing slowing me down is for the money it would cost I could get a wicked twin setup but there is always somthing to buy and the sas has caught my eye atm
