yup... i added a small tune (if you call 135 tune small) to mine. limped the trans 3 times within 2 weeks. granted my truck had a few miles on it when i added the tuner but nonetheless it still limped. some trucks react better to tuners but a common theory is dont go more than 90-100 hp over stock or you will have problems.

there's gonna be others on here who can tell you better what kind of power you can take the truck to without hurtin it. i think pat had a truck makin mid 400hpo before it limped. all in how you drive it and beat on it.....

imo, trans is the first place to start if you're serious about more power.

so if I do anything else, the trans would be the best place to start?

yup, your trans wont hold very much more. Depending on your tuning you can add some pretty good power to yor truck and still keep it safe. EGT's will be something to watch on your truck though

with the trans work done, does the truck have to be reflashed/tuned to work properly? or will it work just fine? sorry for the noob questions. I just figure it is cheaper to ask then to find out the hard way....

Truck will run great, no tunning necessary for having a built trans.

stock truck will work fine with a trans that has been built. however if you wanna make use of that built trans, you may wanna invest in a tuner/programmer to turn it up. many of the people on here are using efilive. there's a whole section dedicated to it. you can build your own tunes or even purchase built tunes from others....

looks like you already have an edge box. running a buil tranny will let you turn it all the way up without hurtin the trans. you can even go bigger at that point depending on how big you have the trans built to.....

as for reflash, i think some people/all people?? reset the taps on the trans so the new tranny will learn your tune and driving habits quicker.

^^^^ thanks guys. I am not much of a tuner so I'll leave that to somebody with experience. It looks like its gonna be a bit of a while for the trans though, got a baby on the way in the next week or so :baby:
