So, I've been looking for the Opel V-8 that will go in it. No such luck. Considering the invenstment in the plant this new motor may be in-house.

I would be interested in seeing what the big block has to offer,as far as the high reving v8 lets see what is has to offer,i feel its a step in the wrong direction but lets see what they have.i watched a youtuber in norway making a video of drag racing over there, there was the occasional bmw or volvo but i was amazed at all the american muscle they have.I can just see them bragging about their IMPORTS!!! :roflmao:

Everyone loves the powerplant in the car why change it? They only mock how cheap some of the body panels are etc... GM never listens to the consumers correctly :angry4: I always loved how the LS7 sound's at high RPM's

There have been a number of rumors about the next power plant. One that there are going to multiple choices for the Corvette. An LSx, a V6, the small V8 with high revs, etc etc. Also where the motor is going to be: front, mid and rear. And guess what; everyone is talking to someone on the inside. So it seems right now there are going to be about 5000 different models of the C7 coming out if they are all right.

GM has always said they want to market the vette to a more afordable market and it was rumered along time ago to come out with a 327 which would be the 5.3 and of coarse the ground pounder and i agree rumers fly and what you get in the end can be far from the stated mark.

I am all for offering a small V8, so long as they also offer the big V8. Sure, it might make the same horsepower, but I guarantee that a 3rd gear roll-on will be WAY more fun with the bigger engine.

I'd rather have a big supercharged engine. Wait. That's what the vette has now. :D (ZR-1)

Chevy is never going to compete directly in the market that Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche buyers are in.

That market is populated by people who buy cars BECAUSE they are expensive and rare. The Vette currently whups both Porsche and Ferrari on the track and is cheaper.

If GM took a Ferrari, rebadged it, it would rot in the showroom.

A dohc v8, twin turbo mid engine is more like what's going to happen to the vette, and that will be years (5 or more) from now.... on another note; the smallblock is not dead, its getting direct injection and slightly different superchargers.

Anyone remember that GM engine code sheet that had a designator for a V12 turbo engine? Hmmm...

If they wanted to steal Ferrari customers, a mid-engine V12 twin-turbo Vette could perhaps turn a head or two.
