Seems putting the ignition switch between the front seats wasn't a good idea after all.

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/12/19/swedish-automaker-saab-files-for-bankruptcy/?test=latestnews

Saab should have been dead the day they built their first car. When I first worked on their transmissions, I considered shooting the car and put it out of its misery. I then came up with a better idea; shoot the fricken engineers that designed it. :thumb:
This car company built the biggest PS possible; outdoing the english, french, and italians for crap.

im a tech at a GM/saab dealership. i dont think one saab came through the shop today. from what i understand all saab warranties are blocked so i suppose that means saab owners with warranties are SOL for now.

Ok say what you want but I bought a Saab ,if I recall it was a 03 what was it a 9/3 model with a 2.0 turbo? I think that was it anyway it actually was a decent car. I didn't drive it much ,it was my wifes car and she liked it. It was fairly comfortable in ride and road noise.

I believe I even picked Moonshine Man up in it at the airport once. It had plenty of pick up and go power for a lil 4 banger and believe me I trumped on it when I drove it. IF it had a stick in it then a auto I would have enjoyed it even more but the wife wont drive standard.

Now the bad it was loaded with gremlins. :D
But I was under warranty so I didn't give to shits and was always given a loaner. The list was quite long.

1) Replace front door window regulators
2) Replace all 4 door exterior handles (faded)
3) Replace all 4 door lock mechanisms
4) Water leak ,soaked rear carpet, was a door gasket
5) Replace rear carpet see above
6) Replace heater blower motor (tech miss diagnose)
7) Replace heater switch. Funniest ass shit the fan motor had a mind of its own and would just run anytime it wanted and drain the battery)
8) Replace Battery
9) Factory recall for bad o-ring transmission line which fried the transmission. That was a biggie. They had to replace EVERYTHING! Since it fried they had back orders on parts they had the car for 3 months! :roflmao:
10) Replace radio it wouldn't eject CD's.

Thats all I can remember at the moment! I owned it for 4 years. :roflmao:

Nonetheless I would have bought a new one IF I could have gotten a standard transmission. They really aren't a bad car if they are under warranty. I would not own one out of warranty thats for-sure. :D

My wife wanted me to get her another one.

The newer models that I drove as loaners were really nice. Take one out for a spin you'd be surprised. Performance ride and over all quality is pretty good. Well obviously not now IF they are declaring bankruptcy which is very unfortunate for people that do own them. That would be a bit scary for me. :D

Also I will add the heater switch that made the fan run when the car was off really pissed me off as when the tech replaced the door lock mechanism he screwed up the install and didn't put the rod back on correctly so you were locked out of the car as the battery was dead and the key would not unlock the door. So it was jimmied in and towed away. That sucked luckily it was on a weekend and she didn't need the car. Also the service people at Valenti motors in Watertown where I bought the car were top notch! Great people never had one issue with them when I brought the car in. Maybe because they had a lot of practice!

Bet you owned a Yugo too.:D

Nope! :D

I have owned a shit load of cars and trucks from American to Japs. I have NEVER owned a Ford although! I believe something like 24 vehicles! :woott:

Lets face not a car out there ,any brand , aren't with out faults or issues. Look at my truck that I luz to own but the injector issue haunts me to what do I do? Constantly on my mind when will they take a dump or will they should I unload it?

Just like my Audi ,made of so called "German Quality" but yet in my mailbox there are faults where they have extended the warranty on defective parts!

Yea, sounds like a real good company for GM to have bought.

GM unloaded saab in '08 i think it was. the new owner got some help from a company in china but i guess that company wanted out and thats when they filed for bankruptcy.

The way I understood it was GM still held stakes in the company and wouldn't let a deal go through to a China Auto company I believe for money to save the company as they didn't want them to get the technology or something like that.

ok that makes sense. i do know that the warranties on '09-'11 saabs are no good now because of the bankruptcy. GM is only honoring the warranties on cars built between '06-'08 because they were built when GM "owned" saab.

Had a SAAB in the shop today. Don't recall what it was, but it had an LS1 in it.

That is probably the only saab in the world worth a shit. I can't believe that Mack liked his PS with all the problems that it had. He is the type of person that fosters the manufacture of these crappy cars. " Hy i'm Mack and my rear end fell out. next day Hy I'm Mack, I was here yesterday and now my engine fell out. hy, I'm Mack, I was here yesterday when you put my engine back in and now my trans fell out. See you tomorrow guys. My you do wonderfull work":roflmao: And you considered buying another one?

Here's a hint Mack. Go beat your head against the wall because when you stop you will feel better.:baby::hug:

The 9-2x was actually a Subaru WRX underneath Saab's ugly cosmetic touches. (Actually that means it was built by Fuji Heavy Industries). One of those weird deals... from the sounds of it, they probably should have had Subaru build more of their vehicles

The 9-3 was the only "real Saab" towards the end. The 9-7x was a t truck with a stupid ignition location the 9-2 was a Subaru.

I was offered a job working at a Saab dealer about 6 years ago, but declined out of fear of developing a multiple personality disorder.

Dammmm you got me pegged I'm a glutton for punishment case and point look I bought me a Chevrolet Duramax with a LB7 in it that is prone for injector failure over and over again that GM extended the warranty on because they are so bad but yet many have bought another one and suggest buying one. Just imagine if GM while in bankruptcy stuck this warranty repair up our ass's and see the brand loyalty! :D

Anyway I was just stating that although it had some issues it wasn't as bad as some make it out to be. Like I said also I wouldn't have one with out a warranty, just in case. She had the car for four years and put a ton of trouble free miles on it. For what it's worth the 9.3 was a decent car for the value paid.

I didn't buy another one thankfully given the current status of the company I bought a different lemon a Audi A-4. :D

Now to get rid of this big Black Lemon sitting in my shop before it takes a shit! :roflmao:

I'd like to get one of the 80's mid decade like Mercedes wagon with that last Bosch pump and engine that just purred. They had issues like them all but sure was a handy car to use for everyday stuff. If luck would bring a no rust bod to put some paint you like and that little turbo just gets down the road. Won't these run on most crap like the 94' etc. 12 valve Cummins? Not much mentioned in here I've seen I guess. I liked that little Volvo wagon in 73'-74' era for looks all that glass and only if one had a good diesel in it for a guess what it is rig at the shop.

Saabs were popular when the gays were still in the closet. It was their way of telling the world they preferred the rocky road. Seems today evryone is gay and you can only tell by the lisp nowadays.

Do I have a lisp?:hmm::poke:

I Love Saabs, I'm not sceeered. I had a 95 900SE t and that thing got me anywhere I wanted to go: sand pits, mud holes, 160 mph runs to VT and back, all till I decided to buy the truck and not put a rear main seal in it at 160k. That was the hardest 60k miles a saab has ever endured I am sure. My current Saab, an 03 Vector 6 sp, isn't as fun but it is one comfy car and for what I paid for both of these cars, I can't complain about much. I am hoping I don't end up a victim of a lunched gearbox in this 6sp, I am not a fan of the feel of it at all. I have to force it into gear when cold, and sometimes it grinds into 2nd when cold. But overall, I like the car, it is responsive and powerful, and gets decent mileage (26 avg commuting)
