S480 96mm turbine

Anyone on here ran a s400 96mm 1.15 or similar t6 housing and a boatload of spray for a race only application? I’m going to have two setups run the s480 over stock for the most part and leave the stock turbo in the valley and build up pipes and a charge pipe to run the s480 as a remote mount for races. I have a goerend J going in the new build hoping I don’t hate it on the street. SoCal stage 1 heads and 3388 cam and 12mm pump and 100 overs. Honestly just an experiment as I already have most of what I need and can Tig. Just curious what everyone’s thoughts are?

Really just wanting to stick with what I’ve got and see if I can make it work. I’m thinking it’s gonna require a lot of nitrous lol you ran a larger single on yours didn’t you?

An 80mm 87 turbine 1.0 with a 3500 stall, then the same size turbo but ball bearing and 1.25 with a 2500 stall and it just barely lights it. If you spray without boost you’re asking for a nitrous backfire

do they make a pressure dump valve for a 4l80? you could swap that trans in, keep a semi tight converter for when in compound mode, then use the dump valve to loosen it up when in single mode till you launch so you get spool up. i dont think they make anything like that for the allison.

either way, id run a t4 480 like Anthony is saying and build the kit around that. i dont see it being a choke point for a compound and it will make single life better.

That’s actually something I hadn’t though of was a dump valve. Looks like Jake’s performance makes a dump valve4l80. But I’d like to keep the Allison for the time being as I still tow with the truck allot. Transbrake and a converter dump valve for the Allison would be awesome though. Something for us guys that wanna pull trailers, daily drive and run 9’s lol but if I can’t get on top of the 96mm with the 1.15 I will look at going t4 87mm. Just an experiment because I have it honestly lol
