Sounds like the 480 will work well with the stock motor and give me room to grow if I want to throw some rods and delipped pistons in later.

I think the 475 would be more than enough. With your race weight there shouldn't be any need to max out your setup and get to the et where you need a cage. You could even get there on a much cheaper single setup

They're T6

Corey

OK that answers half the question. So now where is the best place to transition from the 3" stock turbo exhaust out to 4" T-6 in? I haven't seen anyones compound system in person and the pipe looks all the same size in the pictures I have seen.

Being you have an LLY turbo I'd modify it with some goodies & run an S480.
Your high pressure turbo will spool faster which will spool your S480 faster. You'd be really close to having the quicker spool with an S475 but you'd also get the top end from the S480.

Yeah I think I'm going to do the 480. If it will do well on a stock motor and a built motor, it will let me do it once and also have room to grow if I want to later. I like doing things only once, lol.

100% of my daily driving is on surface streets, about 18 miles each way to and from work. When I'm driving normally, I get about 19, really aggressively yields about 17. I got 21 on the highway when I drove out to LA to get my trans done.

My 480 may have lost a seal this morning. At least I'm hoping that is what happened. Smoking like a freight train.

Anyone know the part number for a rebuild kit for an S480 (96/1.32)?

Also thought of swapping in a 475 if I found one cheap enough just to see if it was more responsive. I have stock sticks and motor so top end and higher boost I'm not after.

the 480 i noticed woke up the top end on the truck more than the 475 did (thats straight swap, no tuning changes). the 475 spooled a hair quicker but nothing i really notice and im picky about lag. both setups pulled hard and clean up 45% overs at 2100 all day long. on a 3000uS, its pretty smokey in the summer, cleans up more in the winter. either way, you will push enough boost to pop an intercooler down the road.

i wouldnt give up the 480 but i do miss the whistle of the 475.

Can you give the specs on these turbos Turbine Wheel size?, Turbine? A/R for comparison between the S475 and S480 please?

jsut off the shelf turbos for twins

originally started with a 475 (75mm inducer), 96mm turbine and 1.32 AR exhaust housing.

the 480 is exactly the same other than the compressor wheel is now 80mm inducer.
