What's it take to pull my twin kit off and run my s475 as a single exhaust housing ? Anything else

The s475 you're running now is a big frame s400 and uses a 96mm turbine wheel and 1.32 a/r T6 housing. That thing is going to be miserably laggy and nearly undriveable. Guys that run 475s as singles have the small frame 400s which use either a 83mm or 87mm turbine wheel with t4 housings. Unfortunately, you can't convert yours to the smaller turbine section you'd want as a single because the bearing housings are different.

Are you saying once an s475 is a 75/96/1.32, there is no going back to a 75/83/.90...? Or does this guy have a special s400?

Only reason I ask is because i have had an s475 converted from a 96/1.32 to a 83/.90...or am I not understanding what your saying?

Mike what all did you have to have done to your s475? BTW nice run Friday night:thumb:

I didn't run friday, that was a buddy, our trucks look almost identical with black roof and everything.

Well it was actually another friend who had his s475 converted. All I know is that he dropped it off at Gillett diesel being an s475/96/1.32 and picked it up a few days later being a 75/83/.90

From my experiences, you do need to swap the center section. The 96mm exhaust wheel is big enough to require a larger heat shield and a larger size housing that has a larger flange on it. This means it needs a physically larger center section as well. It can all be changed for a price though.

My s475 was a T6 96 exhaust wheel And 1.32 AR... Gillett Diesel converted the charger to a .90/83/T4... This was origanlly a out of the box T6. I loved the single. So much fun! I also had twins befor with a stock VVT in the valley. I like the twins for towing. Daily driving and racing though. Single all the way.

If I remember, I will post pics of the difference in bearing housings tomorrow.

Iirc you can swap an 83mm or 87mm turbine wheel in place of the 96. Drop in. However you need to machine the backing plate on the center section if you want to stick a 96mm wheel in place of the 83/87.

Should be as easy as buying an 87mm turbine wheel and a .90/T4 housing for a 87mm wheel and swapping them.
