Would one work in a simple, 100-over injector, 700-ish hp build?

Opinions on spool characteristics if in a typical 5500lbs drag racing build? Probably wouldnt see over the typical 3600-4000rpm Dmax fueling tables.

Obviously, converter selection makes a big difference, too.....but I havent looked into that yet.

Would never, ever tow with it so dont let that play into your thinking.

I ran a s472/87 .90 housing for a bit. 1056 hurt it I'm sure but it was nice. Trans shift points were raised to help. I ended up ditching it because I started towing more with the truck. I'd do it over again no question about it if I didn't tow much

You putting the 1/2 ton together again Tom?

Id run a 472/87 1.0 or a 475/87 1.0 in a heart beat on a street toy with a fairly loose converter.

Debating it, Al. I was going to give it up, but the CompD reunion in June has given me some ideas. Just depends on a couple things.

I ran a 475/87/1.0. Transmission tuning played a big role in the drivability and spool. If you go big single the goerend j converter is the shiznit. For 700 hp I would lean towards a 67.7 or 68 though. Mine spooled well for what it was with a 10mm and stock lml injectors. Blake had it dialed in nice. I may be at the compd reunion too. Be cool to put some faces to names.

I loved the 472/87/1.0 I ran for a couple of months. It made enough power to run 10.9 at close to 6k lbs with a set of 100% LMM injectors.

472sxe/87/.90 or 1.0 should be perfect paired with a Goerend J. I had a 475/87/1.00 from Bullseye with a Goerend J and the truck was an absolute beast to drive. Spooled quick and made more than enough power to get in trouble.

ill loan you a 488sxe, Tom :D:D

472 gets my vote. loose converter, 100 overs and that turbo would make that truck scoot!!

Met a guy with this combo in a stock bottom end lb7. Puts down around 850hp and wails on the track.

it works well. Steve did the same shit on his stock LLY engine before we built it. rods were still straight!

I had an older precision 3000 RPM converter, and it was very responsive and driveable. It didn't couple as well as the Goerend converters I have used, but the truck was relatively light weight and 2wd which probably helped me out.

I would never run a combo like that on a stock bottom engine. Thanks for the tips, guys.

I run a s475/87 1.0 with 100s and 12mm on my LB7. I daily drive the truck at 4000-4600ft. I have a ~3200 stall and it drives perfect. No smoke. Oh and runs 10.50s. Stock engine.

I'm not sure a 64 has enough flow to support 700 hp, but I think you should be able to push it to mid 600s.
