Well to start off with, I would appreciate any uploadfromtaptalk1456879837917.jpguploadfromtaptalk1456879851968.jpguploadfromtaptalk1456879861524.jpginput or direction to another thread about my situation I got. I can't find much of anything I'm looking for.

I'm running a single Billet s468 Borg Warner from Engineered Diesel (bought through Wcfab), and it grenaded on me this morning. Sent shrapnel into my filter, and also all through my CAC. I even seen some fine little crumbs on the other side of cooler so I'm sure it got run through my motor.

I guess first question is should I get a new cooler? I took it out this afternoon but not sure how I should try to clean it out.

And also I'm kinda worried about the motor issue, hope I didn't intake some of them little pieces and mess anything up. Anybody have any experience with that?

Last question, any ideas why this would have happened? Not interested in rebuilding turbo and it do the same thing again in 20k miles.

I've been running my highest tune, not for sure how much it is but doubt it's over 650. It's got a good bit of low boost fueling but I can't see why any of that would be bad for my turbo. I thought this thing was capable of 8 or 900.

Specs of turbo are 68/83/.90

Thanks

Bad boost leak, oiling problem, or ate something.

I doubt that it hurt your motor at all. The cooler is good at catching the big chunks.

That charger shouldn't have any problems at 650hp.

Ok that's what I was thinking too, but I don't see how it could've ate anything and didn't have a boost leak don't believe. I've always been able to build 45 to 48 lbs since installed last summer. And Wehrli says they haven't had any problems with their oil feed on their kits but don't mean it's not possible though. Guess I'll rebuild it and try it again

Boost leak or oil issue, I use lots of wc kits but I don't use the -4 lines that come with them, after having a few s400s scrap with them...have never lost one using -6 line....just my $0.02

Get a new cooler and don't worry to much about the engine. Wouldn't hurt to stick a vacuum down the intake manifolds but if it made it that far it's probably gone out the exhaust. How does a boost leak cause a charger to pop? I know it can on variable geometry by trying to compensate and tighten exhaust for lack of boost pressure then over speed. How does that work on a fixed?

A large boost leak will lead to over speeding on any turbo....

Yeah I'm thinking I'm gonna try to get the -6 just to be on the safer side.. So when you get there kits where do you get the bigger line? Through them or somebody else?
Did you prime the turbo? I see so many guys install kits and start without priming
I actually didn't install it myself because was busy working last summer but yeah I made sure they primed it.. They said they did anyway..

I do remember a few days ago that I somehow barked it pretty good, it normally don't do that..

Borgs do not like overspeeding them at all. Did the shaft break and cause the compressor wheel to touch the comp housing?

Edit nevermind that's what looked liked what happened

Yeah I believe it..

A couple months ago I checked for shaft play and it was tight except for a little up/down slack.

Well a couple days ago I happened to be working on a little fuel leak on cp3 and checked for play again and there was definitely some in/out movement this time.

It still turned smooth and wasn't scraping housing so just thought it was still fine..

Obviously NOT

I source them my self local from a hydraulic shop..have about 100bucks it so in the set up....the -4 seem OK when the turbo is in a twin setup..just not as a single..I save and use the -4s on stock turbos.
