Running a single battery

Who else is running a single battery? Better yet who is running one in colder climates? The battery was never relocated when the twin kit was put on. Went out this morning (it was 35 out) truck barely started. I had the same problem with my reg cab with a single battery. I'm running just a single stock battery (I guess 800cca?) What single battery do you run? I could move the second battery to the bed, Don't really like the frame mount. Or I could just plug it in when it gets cold...

I have been running a single battery in my LBZ for a while. It's an older everstart maxx that came with it when I bought it a few years ago. We only get down into the teens a few times in the winter, so no prolonged cold temps.

I just put a new everstart maxx in my 2015 since it was slow to start the other day. It's been running as a single for a few months now due to the driver side battery taking a dump.

I ran the biggest odyssey that fits in the stock location and it lasted about 3 years on my lmm. Running a northstar now and it does well all year round in the pnw.

The odyssey extreme 65-pc1750 has worked well in FL it fits ok in the stock driver side tray in a LMM with top post

I like these specs for the Odyssey, 950 CCA, 1175 MCA, 1325 HCA 1700 Cranking Amps for 5 Seconds. Battery I have now is a Bosch at 910ca and 750 cca.

My diehard platinum has lasted 5 plus years now as a single with no issues.

I went to there website and found a distributor in California. I don’t see them on there anymore though. Ordering a battery online has def been the cheapest route!

i dont think you will find many who run a single bat in cold cold weather. you need to pay attention to CCA only. that is the number that matters (cold cranking amps). get up and over 1000 and you will be happy with how it cranks in the cold. still may not be rocket fast but it will start it just fine.

I run single battery in my lmm because I've nvr relocated the 2nd one yet after the twin kit and the coldest mine started in was -16 last year not plugged in and it turned over and hopes and dreams but fired up. I'll look at what battery it has in it when I got to physical therapy later today.

I ran a single for a while but I would only get two winters before they would start to go bad. After replacing the third one I mounted a second under the bed and this will be winter number 3 with no signs of getting week.

Stock replacement for mine. Around $130 after tax for each battery.

I've also been running a single Diehard Platinum for the last 4 years and it still works great. Albeit Texas isn't known for it's cold weather, I did have to start last year in the low 20's and the Battery had no problem whatsoever.

Maybe my battery is just weak....but the other day it got down to 30 and I had to hotshot it...

Single red top battery here in south east Idaho with a 16.1:1 compression ratio. Not sure if that would have a positive affect when it’s cold or not? But if I don’t let the glow plugs warm up and just jump in and start it, it sounds like an old Detroit lol that’s the only “minor” issue I could think of.

I'm bumping this back up since its 8 degrees out and my truck won't start . I was thinking of moving both batteries to the bed or relocating them to under the rear seat and mounthing them on the side. I would use a pair of optimas or similar battery. Anyone done this?

Upgrade the wire size if you move them farther away. Don’t want to create too much voltage drop just from moving them to the bed
