The tractor did have a shut-off, but it either got stuck, or there was a blown tube after the charger, which sometimes causes the charger to blow. Say you blow a boost line at max effort, the turbo can suddenly overspeed wildly, and destroy the bearing and oil seal.

If what your in is a manual transmission W/clutch, you can always "try" to put it in the highest gear ans dump the clutch while standing on the brakes.

ouch, this is how new safety features are invented. The air shutoff is one o fthe best features next to the roll cage.

Ill never forget when I was a kid and was at the Tomah Super Nationals pull. A tractor rolled and crushed the driver. tons of fans rushed out the flip it back over. we never did hear the results. he was still alive and breating but obviously unconsious and in shock.

Shortly after NTPA required roll cages after that guys mishap.

We and our nighboor have a small Japanese tractor called an Iseki. They dont have a fuel shut off on the pump so they have intake butterflys to choke them off:eek::D Really good little machines though. Sure theres more diesels like that. Older Mercedes diesels have a butterfly on the intake for emergency shut off. To use it you have to open the hood and operate the throttle linkage closed from idle position which closes the throttle and fuel circut manually. I had one with a bad shut-off valve (stupid vaccum system:mad:) that i had to shut off that way for a bit brfore i fixed it:D

I saw that happen on a brand new 50 ft Luhrs (sportfish). The mechanic couldn't get to the halon because the boat filled with smoke so fast. It was way more violent than this video. It sounded like it was turning 7k rpm. A water front restaurant evacuated that was near by.

It was also CAT powered.

Friend of mine turned over a Brand New John Deere tractor, $80,000 plus machine, it started running on it's own oil and basically totaled it.

If the turbo blows that is worth less.

A butterfly on the intake is your best bet.

I use a MVX 303.

I disagree.
If you install this before the intake-post turbo-it works fine.
This is how we install all of our emergency kills on all of our oilfield equipment. As close to the engine intake as possible. Like Pat said, if you blow off a boost line-this is useless-unless it is right before the intake.
