Allison 5sp: Rough shifts

Had transmission rebuilt for the 3rd time. C2 clutches out twice. Now with less than 3000 easy miles on it it started shifting funny. It first started in tow haul mode and would slam from 4th to 5th. Did what I thought was a re-learn and it's up to the same thing again with an occasional hard downshift.

Trying to find the time to get it to Mike L., but am re-modeling my deck and super tied up right now. Builder doesn't know what's the matter and didn't know what caused the clutches to go out the 2nd time. Plus they're 900 miles away.

Occasionally will not go into park and sometimes the line under the gear selection disappears.

Supposed to go on a long R.V. trip later in Sept., but am afraid to trust it.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks, Terry

I've seen a bent parking prawn cause a parking delay. The guy was doing a tug of war. The other guy pulled him while he was in park. Damaged the C5 clutches, prawl, and other hard parts. Best advice tho get a different shop and call Mike!

Wonder why everyone dances around who built their trans when there is a problem and they don't know how to fix it. Getting them exposed may potentially help another guy not get in the same situation you are in. Good luck with your problems. Sounds like lack of knowledge on the build is the problem.

Not saying it isn't possible but an allison parking pawl is massive. I'd highly doubt the parking pawl is hurt.

I just installed a shift kit in my 2006 lbz 2500 6.6 I got everything out back together the way I took it apart, but now the shifter won't even go into drive reverse manual anything, I can't even pull the shifter out of park.... What do I do or what did I not do.. One of my buddy's told me I had to adjust the linkage... Help

There's a pin on the valve body that has to go into the neutral safety switch, I think that's what it's called.

Drop the pan and check for the pin. Also the FAQ tab up top explains how to start a new thread.
