Rookie Needing Help!!!

Looking for some pointers on my LLY. Just bought it last week and she is completely stock. I already did the PCV reroute and my LBZ turbo mouthpiece is on its way. Other than that I have no clue what direction to go. Do I upgrade to a cold air with the new mouthpiece? if so what part number is the best bang for the buck that looks the best with the new mouthpiece? From there do I go exhaust? buy and install myself or is it a good idea to take it to a shop that does exhaust? I'm fairly mechanical just never done mechanical work on a diesel so I don't want to mess this up! Probably my next question would be the best way to go on a tuner? I plan on pulling a 24 foot enclosed trailer with my stock car in it so I don't need killer horsepower but I want the truck to handle it well. I don't want to get into the transmission and major stuff like that. Enough of me rambling on! Any help is very appreciated!!

At lower power levels a cold air intake isn't necessary. Look up Swiss cheese air box mod or I think PPE air box mod. Basically take a holesaw or sawzall to the factory airbox. A 4 or5" exhaust would help. They are pretty easy to do yourself. As for tuning go with one of our supporting vendors. Any of them can get you set up with some tunes that will be safe for your stock transmission.

EFI live
Straight piped exhaust unless you're going through dot weight stations
Gauges to monitor egt and boost

Awesome tips thanks! I notice a little squeak sounds like the turbo at low rpm when on throttle but goes away when the turbo picks up. Is that a normal sound? and then when you really lay into it the motor takes on a whole new sound almost a rattle and then it finally takes off. Feels like when an old quadrajet carb had a stumble then finally took off. Im hoping its just the turbo starved for air with the original mouthpiece on it? Also where is the best place to buy the exhaust and tuner through? thanks!
