I'm just curious what everyone is doing for roll bars once they go sub 11.5 I dont foresee my truck being a full race truck at any point and don't want to do a full cage. Any pictures of your setups would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

I did a chromoly bar in the white truck with removable door bars. I run race seats and harnesses but it was made to work with factory front and rear seats.

I don't have the truck with me at the moment but ill see if I can snap some pictures.

The same guy that build the cage in Nasty Guy did mine.

I have a S&W bar waiting at my parents, whenever I can get down there to weld it in.
Thanks for the link. I completely forgot Tim had his cage built in Brockton. My office is in Brockton. Maybe I'll get in touch with Dominator and see what they can do.

I'm the same way when it comes to rattles etc. Never thought about that aspect of it.

Steve is a great guy, awesome fabricator, and will build it right. You wont be able to be 100% legal doing it the way we did with mine unless you do the halo and a-pillar supports. You'll have to bring the rear supports down at an angle which makes it nearly impossible to use the rear seat.

I was under the impression that 5pt roll bar wouls pass down to 10.0 but I could very well be mistaken. I really don't want to make my interior useless, but I do like the added safety in case something were to go wrong.

Mine 100% passes tech at one of the toughest place to get teched, firebird in Boise. The director broke the rule book out on the truck and had 0 issues with my bar down to 10.0s

Awesome. I guess different people interpret text in many ways. At many tracks Trojan could probably torch weld the pieces together and pass tech too...would it be structurally sound and as the rules intended...nope.

The rules state that there needs to be a 30 degree approach angle for the rear supports. The reason is because otherwise you are making a "box out of toothpicks," so to speak. the weight of the truck rolling over would bend the entire assembly at the mounting points on the frame.

One way around it is to tilt the main hoop back 10 degrees from vertical and it lessens the angle of the rear support bars going back to the rear of the cab.

That's not just your track, that's ANY NHRA track. My buddy here got kicked out for no cage at 11.48 in his cummins, no warnings.

some are more strict than others.

Indy didn't even look at my cage, nor did woodburn, while Firebird here in Boise broke out the rule book.

Watch the head clearance on these things. If it is close it is more dangerous to ride around in one without a helmet than just the OEM. Chrome moly is harder than most heads and if you take a side impact your head is going into it hard.

I also watch (at an un named track in LA) a "mechanic" go for a ride in a truck to see what it was doing wearing shorts and sitting on a 5 gal bucket. The truck pulled both front wheels off the ground. They got a warning.
