I have a 2006 6.6 duramax. I have two questions. In the summer on longer drives 100+ miles on towing anything the check engine light comes on and truck goes into limp mode. I pull off the highway turn it off wait 3-5 minutes, start it up and it is fine.

Second question, my mechanic says that I have a defective injector but says with Duramax you cant tell which one is bad only which side of the engine it's on and will need to replace all 4 injectors on that side for $3,500.00!!!

Help!! Is it possible my ECM needs to be replaced? BTW I have a Bully dog unit on it.

Any help would be great.

Post up the codes that come on with the limp mode & you'll get more help on this issue. Any modifications to the truck? You can definitely isolate what injector your having issues with, if that's the case

Yes you most definitely can tell which it is. If he doesn't know what he's doing in this motor then use someone else.

No your ecm is fine.

What level are you running on the Bully Dog. That thing should be the first to go. Do you have gauges?

Bully dog i would say is your biggest issue. And any body with half brain can tell which exact injector is out by checking your balance rates. $3500 for one side is absurd id tell your mechanic to go smoke pole....

If u can pull codes it can be narrowed down to what it is

Check for frayed wire harness by FICM. Sounds like chaffed wire intermittently grounding out
