LMM: rod bolts and main cap bolts.

What can the stock main cap bolts handle power wise ?


Also if i was to put arp rod bolts in, will i need to have the rods checked for roundness and hone. Like you would with main caps when you stud them.

The stock main cap bolts will hold more than stock rods. The problem comes at higher hp levels is crank walk. This is where main studs, bullet caps, or studs and a girdle help out.

As for the rod bolts. In my opinion it's not worth spending the money on better rod bolts for the stock rods where the rod bolts are holding longer than the rods can stay straight.

Sweet cheers the engine wont be seeing more then 650hp max effort at this stage. Till i build it


Was only asking due to having to remove the main caps and rod caps to inspect the bearings at this stage, didnt want to completely disassemble the block to get line honed for studs.
Was asking about arp rod bolts tho as its easier for me to get arp gear in Australia the gm stuff. But i have a sorce for new gm main cap bolts
