Looks like fun. How come he didn't open it up on the straight away? Has to be a lot more in it. Was he governed on how fast he could go? Just wondering

I'm not sure. Robert or Pat will chime in I'm sure. I know Pat mentioned something about getting in trouble for driving to fast

But, I wasn't there. Even though I can drive I still couldn't wear my racing shoes. So Robert took my spot and I had a hot date with a slot machine :woott: :happy2:

I cant see it here at work to tell which drive it was but at the end of the day everyone was burnt out. I'll give it a view tonight and add my .02! Thanks Kat, I'm glad you only like to race going straight

So Cal.
I have to say I'm a little dissapointed....

You never broke 100MPH..
The tires were not squealing..
The instruction did not pee his pants nor was he crying like a little girl...

What was the point of going out there unless you were going to USE the car?:woott:

That was MUCH better but again on the second lap why didn't you hit triple digits or is that when the instructor yelled at him? Pat was cranking right along

The instructors really didn't want you to top it out in the straights. There is no rollcage in these cars. I know that video wasn't the fastest either Robert or I went. I was backing off on the back straight because of earlier warnings. In one session I was chasing Robert and I was flat out trying to hunt him down. I did catch him, but he was cooking.

Well I have to admit Pat was the only one I saw that "used" his car, we were only in the cars 10 mins and it was the first time we were behind the wheel and he was first thru the course, and all I see in front of me was a CTS-V wagon stick shift blowing both rear tires up for about 20 yards even thrugh the traction control :roflmao: I'm thinking great I just spent 3+hrs at 100+ to get here and we are about to get kicked out!!!!:spit: The thing about these cars is, when all the traction and handling stuff is switched on they get boring pretty quick. We only got to turn the stuff off for the watered down skid pad area, and 9 out of 10 people there couldn't control these things at a 10 mph drift let-a-lone at 120 on the road course....that would have been fun to watch though!

Not sure I agree with that.

As for the auto trans and the track, yeah it seems wierd. Not sure I understand "sport mode." It doesn't hold gears and stuff like they say it will (coming out of a turn, you roll into it, the trans downshifts). Unless maybe you need to be driving at 99% of the cars ability. I asked John H, the man himself about when it goes into the mode and when it comes out (yeah I know it's the gearshift to the right), if it gets reset with key off, etc. Still don't understand it and haven't seen it either in those cars there, or my car the one time I've had it at the local track. You'll notice in my vid I had the instructor-o-matic quasi-manual transmission.:D He never said anything, just put his hand on the gearshift...it worked pretty well

I'd like to see a comparison of it against the manual with a qualified driver on a track.

Looking good! I think you beat Pat!:thumb:

You had a great driving coach, he really verbalized the track.

Ya I like your guy better than either of my two instructors, but he is totally setting that car up for you shifting that auto....Nice vid. One day I want to take a full size race car class, have done a kart school (single rear brake only), but so far cars are still boring compared to motorcycles.

Maybe cars are boring compared to motorcycles. But it kind of made me laugh at some people saying they needed more power and picking the cars apart in front of professional automotive engineers and drivers. It was pretty clear the cars outclassed everybody that paid money to attend.

Different track, but here's how it should be done....makes our laps look like a Sunday drive to the store:
